When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?

Almost everything is multisided – including the occurrences that give us pain.  So, we asked some of the most enlightened folks in the community to share how they have harnessed their pain to help rather than hurt them.

I stopped hiding my pain when I realized silence was keeping me stuck in the very cycles I was trying to break. For a long time, I wore strength like armor, but inside, I was carrying generations of unspoken wounds. The turning point came when I became a mother. Tamara Leigh

I don’t know that it’s necessarily hiding it but more so finding a voice for it. I think it’s a lifelong journey. Being Black in this country. Being Queer or Trans brings so much challenge, discrimination and just completely unjustified hatred.
