Is the public version of you the real you?

We all think we’re being real—whether in public or in private—but the deeper challenge is questioning whether we truly know our real selves at all. In any case, even when we know ourselves we might face various pressures that push us to fit in or not cause trouble – so even the most well-intentioned person might struggle to always be 100% real in public. Sometimes the simplest questions are actually the most complex. Thankfully, we have some wonderful members of the community who offered to share their thoughts on this challenging question.

Charron Monaye

Interesting question. The public knows me as Charron Monaye, but the real me is Charron Michelle. Monaye is the side of me that deals with the world, taking on projects, talking to people, showing up, creating, inspiring. Absolutely, yes. I’m big on authenticity. With me, what you see is what you get. Life’s too short for facades and not living as your true self. Of course, we all have layers. Monica Aguilar

Absolutely. What you see is what you get. The version of me you see online is the exact same person you’d meet in real life—genuine, approachable, and passionate about what I do. I believe in showing up authentically in every space, whether I’m behind a screen or standing with a couple on their wedding day. Read more>>

Regan Weiss

I believe there is a showcase to every person, especially if you’re in sales and marketing people don’t want a blasé attitude or a person with zero energy… I believe there is always some type of showmanship in a sales world, especially if you’re a CEO of a company you have to have a strong presence.
