Story & Lesson Highlights with Richard Lack of St. Pete, FL

Richard Lack shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Richard, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Wake up 7:30-8:00AM
Coffee 8:05 – 8:30AM
9:00 – 10:00AM – Open lap top while simultaneously on my phone start checking emails, check order status, follow up on collabs, strategize photoshoots, add new products, work on graphics etc.
Around 10:00 I start getting ready for my day job as a server at Cali – St. Pete

As soon as I’m done with work I race home and pick up where I left off for a few hours then it’s time to eat and get some rest! That’s on repeat M-F on the weekends it’s a chance to get involved with markets or even better pop ups around the city!

I just wanted to note as well that I try to throw working out in there too! I like to run and I have a little routine with free weights, push ups and sit ups as well as some reps with Forbes Riley’s Spin Gym it’s great!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Richard Lack the creative mind behind Wreath & Anchor. I am fully involved and run the brand from a studio in St. Pete, FL. I designed the website, I do almost all the graphic design and art with the exception of the collaboration designs which are noted in the product descriptions on the website and social media tags. Most of the artist that we’ve had the honor of working with have an Instagram so you can go find them there!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My Dad has had the most influence on my work habits from early childhood I was always in competitive sports which carried throughout high school I could have played college ball too but life had other plans for me. The biggest take aways from him is that there really are no days off. If you really want something and want to be the best at it you have to stay on it everyday. I heard somewhere too that in order to be Ballin you have to Be All In! So I take my competitiveness that I learned from sports and carry that into other aspects of my life when applicable.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
No never burn all the ships! Seriously though I quit boozing almost 5 years ago and that seems to have helped me tremendously!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Making people laugh!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’d like to think I have a healthy mix of both but I am defiant by nature!
