Story & Lesson Highlights with Rebecca Dawson of Surrounding area

We recently had the chance to connect with Rebecca Dawson and have shared our conversation below.

Rebecca , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When was the last time you felt true joy?
I experience joy daily. My joy isn’t determined by my circumstances. So I am free to express joy daily. It’s a good thing.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely! I’m Rebecca Dawson. I’m the owner of WellHouse. It’s a natural spring water bottle company in Sarasota, FL. We primarily bottle our spring water in sustainable glass. Our water has a similar composition to other premium brands like Voss.
We also offer a BPA Free plastic that is an alkaline water with natural electrolytes. It’s comparable to Smart Water.
Our water is naturally sourced containing minerals. Our products do not travel overseas exposed to all the elements. Our water can be shipped anywhere. But we are looking to expand into grocery stores and add national distributors in 2026.
I’m a wife of 25 years to my college sweetheart, and I’m the mom to three young men. Our family adds so much joy and laughter to my life. I love when everyone comes home. I love running, reading, sunsets and quiet. As much as I love people, my soul needs quiet, and I long for it daily.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with the Lord has shaped me the most. He defines who I am. When I came to Him, I was pretty broken and didn’t know who I was. It’s not been an easy journey, but as I learned to trust Him more & more I discover how lovingly I was created. It didn’t happen over night, but little-by-little I began to understand who He created me to be and I loved Him all the more for what He was doing inside of me. He was making me new. He is a good God.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, daily. Being an entrepreneur is difficult. I don’t think it’s the hardest thing I have ever done. But it’s definitely not easy. Daily I remind myself to not give up. Giving up is not the answer, but it feels so much easier sometimes.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Faith.
Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Seeing isn’t really believing. Seeing is easy. Faith is believing when you do not see. That’s not easy. Entrepreneurship is a constant faith journey.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I loved well. Every story may have a different variation. But I want to be a woman who listens and loves well.
