We’re looking forward to introducing you to Peyton Bernal. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Peyton , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For me, integrity will always come first. Intelligence and energy both matter, but without integrity, they lose their weight. Integrity is about being steady in character, following through on your word, and choosing what’s right even when it costs you something. Loyalty is also huge to me, and I think the two go hand in hand, you can’t truly be loyal without integrity, and you can’t live with integrity without being loyal to the people and commitments you value. Biblical principles remind us that trust and faithfulness are what relationships and communities are built on, and I try to live that out in both my personal life and my work.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Peyton, and I’m the owner and creative behind Pop by Peyton, where I design custom balloon garlands and event backdrops. What started as a fun side project quickly grew into something bigger,it became a way for me to support my family while doing something I genuinely love. I think what makes my brand unique is that I don’t just put balloons together; I focus on transforming a space and creating a moment people will remember. Each garland has its own personality, and I love adding textures and little details that make it feel one-of-a-kind. Right now, I’m working on refining my signature style and taking on projects that truly excite me, while keeping my business grounded in generosity, joy, and the belief that celebrations bring people closer together.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband, Chuck. We got married young, at 21, so in many ways we’ve grown up together. Through all of life’s changes, he’s always had this ability to see me more clearly than I’ve seen myself. Long before I had the confidence to put my creativity out into the world, he was the one reminding me of my strengths and encouraging me to take steps I might have shied away from. When I questioned whether I could really turn balloons into a business, he never doubted it for a second. Having someone who knows you so deeply, has walked alongside you through every season, and still champions your dreams, that’s been one of the biggest gifts of my life and a huge reason I’ve been able to grow into who I am today.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh my gosh yes!!! After an incredibly difficult setup where everything seemed to go wrong, I almost threw in the towel and walked away from it all. It was one of those moments where exhaustion and frustration make you question if it’s worth it. But building this company has taught me the value of perseverance and the reward of pushing through. It’s also given me a sense of financial freedom for my family that I wouldn’t trade. Those hard days remind me that growth often comes on the other side of struggle, and that’s what keeps me moving forward.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what matters most to me is my faith, my family, and reliability. I try to live in a way that reflects my values, where the people I love know they can always count on me. Loyalty and dependability are huge for me, and I think my friends would say that shows up in every part of my life.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I believe in giving my best even without praise, because the work itself should reflect who I am and what I stand for. That said, I’ll admit recognition is a big motivator for me,it feels good to know that the effort and heart you put into something is seen and appreciated. Still, I try not to let the lack of praise determine the quality of what I give.
