Good morning Jonathan, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up and pray first thing. I then open up my Bible app and read the daily verse. I’ve been working on retaining the word and not just reading it as a check off on my list. I then play some jazz and do my self care and then do what I have to do for the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a self taught photographer based out of Tampa,FL. I didn’t go to school and I didn’t do anything photography related as kid nor a teen. God blessed me with this gift in my early twenties and I haven’t looked back since.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I used to be really in love with music. When I was little,my mom bought me a drum set for Christmas and without any lessons or anything,I could play on it. But I’ve always been an artist. I used to paint,draw,and color a lot. Then I wanted to be a music artist. Now I’m a photographer. God has always had me doing art in some type of form my whole life. It’s a responsibility of mine honestly.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I was so scared that my mom would hear me grabbing food in the middle of the night as a kid. Nothing helped honestly. When you get older your parents just don’t care anymore as long as you get to school on time or don’t miss the bus.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
You need to have the newest camera or a certain camera brand.
