Story & Lesson Highlights with Johnny Douglas of Tampa

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Johnny Douglas. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Johnny, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently, I have obtained my food trailer after working for about five years on and off out of a tent during pop-up shops. It made me so proud to walk up to my Food trailer and pull it across the bridge as we embarked on a new venture in Saint Pete. I truly enjoy the work that I do in the nursing elements I’m able to bring to the community.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
MHV CAFE, my hungry vegan, is a plant based soul fusion food trailer providing substantial, cultural, and educational experiences to vegan and those curious about food that connects us.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I use to believe that I wasn’t worthy of good things to last in my life. I no longer believe that god gave me the spirit of fear, doubt or insecurities. I’m all things powerful and positive now about myself and my craft.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Recently I felt like giving up after comparing myself to others in the same field. I thought that my craft and food wasn’t good enough to level up to the next stage in life and business. I continue to prove myself wrong by showing up and believing in my talents.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
That better days are always on the other side of being scared out of your mind.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I would build a community garden that those experiencing homelessness could work and live there to support and give back to the community.
