We’re looking forward to introducing you to Eric Ritter. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Eric, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Coffee, workout, feed and walk my Portuguese Water Dog (Ellie), quick breakfast, get ready for the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Eric Ritter, Founder & CEO of Digital Neighbor, a digital agency that helps ambitious law firms across the country dominate their local markets. We blend AI-driven marketing with a website-first strategy to create a growth engine that not only generates a consistent stream of cases and retainers but also builds a firm’s reputation.
Digital Neighbor is founded with Fred Rogers, yes Mister Rogers, in mind to bring some kindness, transparency, and clarity to digital marketing. To this day, he remains the north star of the agency today.
My goal is to make law firm growth and marketing feel like a neighborly conversation.
We go beyond cookie-cutter tactics. Instead, we offer done-for-you execution, proactive insights, and real partnership—helping firms attract better cases, fix intake gaps, and finally get marketing that actually works.
A great example: A personal injury law firm came to me in a panic after their old marketing agency locked them out of their website. We rebuilt it overnight, launched a custom digital strategy, and within a year, they tripled their monthly signed cases and grew their firm’s team.
Outside of DN, I host “The Search Bar” Podcast where we talk Law Firm Growth. Wine optional. I’m also a digital marketing educator at the University of South Florida.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
One of the most impactful relationships in shaping how I see myself has been with my parents and, in a way, with Mr. Rogers. My parents modeled kindness, curiosity, and hard work, while Mr. Rogers reinforced the idea that everyone has value and that leading with empathy matters. That early foundation has stayed with me through my career. It’s why I built Digital Neighbor to be a place where people feel welcome, respected, and part of something bigger. Those influences taught me that success isn’t just about results, it’s about the relationships you build along the way.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes. Early in my career, I had a mentor who really listened when I shared my ideas and frustrations about how agencies were run. Instead of dismissing my perspective as “inexperience,” they asked questions, dug deeper, and encouraged me to think about what I would do differently. That conversation planted the seed for starting my own agency years later. It reminded me how powerful it is to be heard without judgment, and it’s shaped how I listen to my team and clients today.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. What you see publicly is who I really am. I’ve worked hard to make sure there’s no gap between the “professional me” and the “real me.” Whether I’m speaking at an event, meeting with a client, or catching up with friends, I lead with the same values: kindness, clarity, and curiosity. That consistency comes from how I was raised and from mentors who showed me that authenticity builds trust faster than any marketing tactic ever could.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I made their lives better. And, that I was a good neighbor in every sense of the word. That I built connections, lifted others up, and led with kindness while still driving meaningful results. I’d like to be remembered as someone who brought people together, helped them succeed, and left things better than I found them.
