We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rosie Paulsen. Check out our conversation below.
Rosie, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My sweetheart Scott and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary on July 29. When we met, my husband was wearing a hot dog suit. He used to volunteer at a children’s church as the comic host, and that day, there was teaching about “Winners” in life, but the skit had him wearing a “wienner” suit. The kids loved the skit, and the rest is history
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Rosie Paulsen, a proud naturalized American originally from Ecuador, and I am the founder of Rosie Paulsen Enterprises and S&R Services. As a business strategist, speaker, and author of Ñeque: “Resilience, Purpose, and Grit: The Formula for Achieving Success, I help entrepreneurs build thriving, successful, and profitable businesses to succeed at creating their happy American Dream Story. I have a Niche in Medicare, and my company, S&R Services, has a mission of raising the next generation of Insurance Leaders with a servant’s Heart. My brand is built on three promises: Knowledge, Connection, and Success. Through initiatives like Cafecito with Rosie, leadership programs, and community involvement, I empower individuals to discover their purpose and lead with integrity, perseverance, and servant leadership. My passion is helping people and businesses unlock their potential and create a lasting impact in their communities.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The moment I gave myself permission to “Prosper and Grow,” growing up in a third-world country, I developed a scarcity mentality. However, I knew even back then that with resilience and commitment, I could achieve everything I set my mind to. However, I was unconsciously not seeing the glass as full, and I always struggle with the relationship with money. After a lot of personal development and soul searching, I realized I needed to give myself that permission, and I did. As a result, things underwent a 360-degree change.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
My family was very loving, but we grew up in a merit-based environment. I was neglected not because my parents did not love me, but because they needed something to prove. I was the first of everything in my family: daughter, niece, granddaughter, cousin. All my family members got to practice their skills with me. Because of this, I believe I internalized many of the insecurities of the adults in my life, and for the longest time, I made choices that were not beneficial for me. After a lot of personal development, I realize that these experiences created the tools in my arsenal that I use today to conquer whatever opportunities for growth I encounter, whether at home, in my business, or anywhere else. I have since written a book Ñëque” Resilience, Purpose and Grit: The Formula for Achieving Success. I honor my parents, as they sacrificed everything to bring us to this country, so that my siblings and I have a shot at the American Dream. From my father, I inherit his dancing moves and servant’s heart, and from my mother, her beauty and tenacity. I am what I call a Die Heart Optimist, and all that was the result of the healing of these wounds
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Heck YES, unapologetically, the world is full of phonies, and I am a “Limited Edition” “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made; it takes more work to be a fake and not the authentic true me. I had an experience with someone who, on social media, seemed to have it all together, but when I met her in person, she was a mess. I decided right there and then that I would always be me. What you see is what you get. I am not everyone’s cup of tea, and that is okay. What others think of me is none of my business. My Signature Smile is my secret weapon that will bring down any walls that people put up.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I am my biggest cheerleader. I believe in my abilities and will bet on myself each and every time. People often look for validation outside of themselves, but if you don’t know how to love yourself, you can’t teach others how to love you. Society pits women against each other as competitors, but there is a movement of women who have healed themselves through self-improvement and personal development, and are now creating collaborations that are changing their environment and leaving a legacy of love, understanding, and sisterhood, shaping how we conduct business. Another significant aspect that others often overlook is the lack of separation between your personal life and your business. The most successful brands have become unstoppable because their foundation is based on the founders’ authenticity and uniqueness.
