Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Balajadia
Hi Tim , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started on the beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean, Guam, USA. One summer around 2002, my other brother Anthony, came home from the University of San Francisco and brought a guitar. Him and his friends would hang out at the house and play cover songs from 90’s alternative artist and other classic songs at that time. I remember sitting in the living room, fascinated! Before he left to go back to USF he gave me his guitar, I was pumped! I practiced everyday with obsession until I could play in the darkness of my bedroom. I must mention that I come from a military family and this reminded me of watching my father play guitar when we lived in Sasebo, Japan in my formative years, which probably fueled the obsession to learn music even more.
Fast forward, about a year or so later, I started combining my love for writing and music together along with my friend, Jason J. We would get together after school and make original music every singe day with reggae influence. We burned a CD with our music from an old camera’s stripped audio for ourselves. These CDs somehow made it past us and we went Viral on the Island. Jason and I, then started playing at local venues, opening up for famous acts and getting radio play. After high school in 2006, the solo journey continued. Since then, I’ve played my original music in San Francisco, Big Island Hawaii, Guam, Seattle, San Diego, Las Vegas and now here in Florida (with my manager/girlfriend Claudia Lukas). I’m super thankful that Tampa Bay continues to show me love and support.
Last September, I completed my 4th album?.. with input from the legendary, Bonzai Caruso (7x Grammy Winning Producer) who happens to work closely with the Bob Marley family, This project was produced by DJ Oddio from the PNW. It was an honor and pushed me passed my limits once again!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I often refer back to my thought I wrote sometime ago, “Count your blessing and you’re gonna be blessed, Count your stresses and you’re gonna be stressed”. With that said all roads to dreams and anything worthwhile come with lessons that aren’t the most comfortable. Some of the obstacles that took years to overcome are, imposter syndrome, self doubt, lack of confidence, among countless others. The list is long but they are there to make one stronger and better built for success.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an original Reggae Artist first and foremost, a podcaster, audio engineer, music producer, vocal coach, product designer, manager, song writer, guitarist, vocalist, and stat analyzer, booker. These are all parts of the music industry that I constantly try to improve on. I am most proud of helping and connecting with people at a personal level internationally and being a positive influence for Pacific Island youth.
What matters most to you?
The thing that matters to me the most is life. Living life to the fullest, sharing my craft, and being a good human. I believe these are universal principles that all of us should strive for. That’s just my opinion.
