Hi Tiffanie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello and thank you for this opportunity! My name is Tiffanie Cosby, and I am a professional singer, voice coach, and owner of Tiffanie Cosby Voice Studio, where I teach and coach aspiring singers of various ages and genres of music through private and group vocal training lessons.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many professionals experience bumps in the road throughout their journey. I’m no exception. But through every bump in the road that I’ve experienced, my faith in God and the support of my family, friends, and mentors have provided me with hope and encouragement to keep pushing through and moving forward. I’ve learned that if there seem to be no doors to walk through, you create one.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a professional singer and voice coach, I teach singers and vocalists how to develop, strengthen, and maintain their most natural instrument… their voice. Through private and group coaching, my students are taught fun, professional training techniques to improve their voices and maintain a healthy voice while singing and performing. I absolutely love when singers discover that they can truly take their singing to the next level and belt out their favorite songs!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a singer. Born and raised in Marion, AL, I picked up a microphone at a young age and never wanted to put it down. I started singing in the children’s choir at church. Even at such a young age, music and singing was fun, exciting, and also a bit scary. After noticing that a passion for music was brewing, my parents started with me with piano lessons. When I was old enough, I joined the middle school band and learned to play the trumpet. Learning those instruments only made me even more passionate about by most natural instrument, my voice. But there were no nearby voice instructors to teach me proper techniques and how to maintain a healthy voice. I knew there was so much more to learn about my most natural instrument, so I decided to major in music and vocal performance at Faulkner State and then Alabama A&M University.
My formal training began, and as I learned, I would share that knowledge with others who love to sing, including church choirs and small groups. I was developing a love for voice coaching and teaching other singers how to take their singing to the next level. Here I am, 15 years later, continuing to share my love of singing and voice coaching through a private, group, and online vocal training with singers from all over the world through my company, Tiffanie Cosby Voice Studio
