From Miami’s sunny shores to the charm of Virginia, my creative journey began, driven by the joy of making people feel and look their absolute best. College didn’t align with my aspirations, so in my twenties, I embraced the art of hairstyling, igniting a passion that set my soul ablaze.
College’s rigid path wasn’t my cup of tea, so I dived into the world of hair artistry in my twenties. After years of enriching experiences in a Virginia salon, I took a leap of faith and birthed my salon studio 8 years ago. But change beckoned, and in 2022, I set sail for St. Pete to weave new magic and rebuild my clientele.
Still under the guise of Gypsy Dollhouse in a salon in Pasadena, a haven of beauty and self-expression. Yet, my heart still dances with my Virginia guests, and I love traveling back to care for them. As the stars align, I dream of owning my own intimate salon space once more, where artistry and passion intertwine like vines on a trellis. The journey unfolds, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Presently, I face the challenge of starting afresh in a new location and not knowing anyone. The process of relocation has proven to be financially demanding, with the expenses of both moving and running a business.
However, amidst these trials, I remain optimistic. Reflecting on a triumphant experience nearly 20 years ago, where I overcame similar obstacles, I have an unwavering belief in my ability to succeed again.
My passion for my craft fuels my determination to overcome these hurdles and propel my endeavors to new heights.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My expertise lies in the art of crafting custom colors and meticulously shaping hair, ranging from radiant blondes to a kaleidoscope of rainbow hues. Whether it’s a daring pixie haircut or elegantly flowing long layers, I skillfully bring each vision to life.
What truly sets me apart is the profound connection I establish with my cherished clients and the unwavering dedication I pour into honing my craft.
And that’s not all – visiting the salon comes with an adorable, tiny companion named Trina, whose mere presence will melt your heart as soon as you walk through our doors.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
From the very beginning, I danced to the rhythm of my beat, forging a path in a Cuban household rooted in traditional values and old-school thinking.
Though it posed challenges, I embraced the power of questioning and challenging norms, rather than merely obeying them. Music, beauty, and art became my sanctuaries, providing solace and creative expression amidst life’s trials.
