Rising Stars: Meet Lianna Ashton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lianna Ashton.

Hi Lianna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was born into a circus family. I’m an 8th-generation performer. Started performing at 2yrs old. I come from a famous circus family The Ashton Circus in Australia. My first learned act was the family Risley act. My dad juggled me and my brother on his feet up until I was in my mid 20’s. When I retired from the family Risley act, I started my own hula hoop then added foot juggling a couple years ago that I still perform today. I’m also a musician/singer/ dancer. Circus and music runs on my dad’s side. Dance on my mom’s side. You can see a lot of my recent vids on my Instagram @ Lianna Ashton. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The hardest struggle was being a single mom and trying to juggle my career at the same time. But being a mom is by far one of the biggest blessings of my life! Also keeping up training can also be a challenge as you get older 😅 (just turned 40!) there’s a lot of days you don’t feel like doing it, but it’s a must to stay on top!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Grew up doing Risley (flyer on my dad’s feet) Now specialize in hula hoops and foot juggling.

Also, have an acoustic music duo called New Generation.

I also teach private circus lessons when I’m home.

I’m most proud of my family’s accomplishments. We were inducted in the Circus Ring Of Fame in 2001. I’m very proud of that 🙂
