Rising Stars: Meet Gregg Brotman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregg Brotman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always enjoyed photography and videography. I got invited to film a freestyle motocross exhibition at Dade city motocross. One of the local pros asked me if I wanted to make him a personal video of him racing motocross. He showed it to lots of people and I started making $500 on Saturday night.

Soon after I was making $1000 on a weekend. I was tired of doing infrastructure voice & data; my bosses never seemed to appreciate my work. I quit and started going to other races around the state and eventually went to the National Championships at Loretta Lynn’s dude ranch in Tennessee. I built my schedule up quickly, adding other races in Texas, California, Arizona & in 2009 started going to Europe as the Team USA videographer and now co-team manager. I’ve now owned my Multimedia production company for 21 years. Doing video, photo, drone, social media marketing, graphic design, website design and hosting.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a great ride. Of course, there’s always struggles along the way but nothing significant enough to deter me from living my dream Of being my own boss, making my own schedule and allowing me to be creative along the way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I pretty much came up with the idea of making personalized videos for motocross racers. They can be used as study tools, send to sponsors, tag sponsors and of course, a great keepsake. It’s been my niche. My passion now is my drone. I am a certified FAA drone pilot and I love the perspectives that my drone gives me. I travel to locations just to fly my drone to get those unique shots to add to my growing portfolio.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have established a large client base in the motocross industry. My return customers don’t even ask me to make a video of their son or daughter, I just know to do it and have the credit card on file. Going over to Europe with Conrad Eigenmann has been awesome since getting involved, we’ve put together several teams that have won the entire event. We are currently the three-time repeat champions. We are a big family and I get a lot of support from my motocross family. Conrad is also my best client paying for over 70 videos over the course of 10+ years of his son’s racing career. I gotta say Randy Yoho owner of Dade city MX was a huge mentor of mine giving me my start back in 2000. My parents have been very supportive; they didn’t quite know what I was doing at 1st, but now know I have a legit business that’s keeps me going.
