Rising Stars: Meet Denxelle Ducasse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denxelle Ducasse.

Hi Denxelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For as long as I can remember I’ve always been a very creative person. I grew up back and forth between The Dominican Republic and The Bronx in New York. One of my favorite memories as a kid was one Christmas when my single mom of two got me a set of drums so for as long as I can remember Music and Dancing was my first love. I participated in a lot of different talent shows for hip-hop & breakdancing growing up. I even landed a gig in one of platinum artist Wyclef’s from The Fugees Videos called “Bagay nèf”. As I got older, I started realizing how my living situation wasn’t the best. I grew up in a 1-bedroom apartment with my mom, grandma, and my aunt & her kids totaling of 9 of us. Despite rough times, we always stood together with the rest of the family. My house was the house that everybody would come over to every Saturday to spend time with each other, and this is where I developed a lot of culture and importance of family. I think this is plays a big role on why I’ve always wanted more for myself and my family. I am inspired to never let any obstacles get in my way. So, once I got older, I dived into anything I can possibly do sports, fashion, music, photography, acting, learning about the mind, body, and soul. Which eventually led me into things like being captain of my Highschool baseball team, landed on a Vogue Magazine edition, landing and auditioning different roles for companies like Netflix, making and dropping a ton music like a mixtape called “Legend of Xel” and an EP called “X-Factor” on all music platforms ended up featuring in of my cousin’s songs (Melii) that has over two million views on YouTube and counting. Picked up a laptop and taught myself of design on photoshop which ultimately led me into creating my own Clothing brand called Sin La Luna, and that’s just to name a few things I’ve worked on. Recently I Found out the my mother had stage 3 cancer and that I was going to be a father in the same month. They say “Smooth water never made a skilled sailor” so lately I’ve been embracing all my hardships with an open heart. God will never tempt us, but if He allows us to experience a trial, then He will give us the strength to endure it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Almost losing my life in a life-threatening fight, I had in The Bronx. I ended up getting stabbed three times, twice on my ribs & once around abdominal/ stomach area. I feel like that was a huge turning point in my life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, I run my own clothing brand called “Sin La Luna” which stands for “without the moon” in Spanish. I created & founded this brand at one of my lowest darkest moments of life. Behind that, I was trying to do was find the light. Holding on to the positivity through the darkest moments of life. Ultimately creating the theme of finding your light without the moon, or Sin La Luna aka the dark moments. I also make music which I would say is one of my favorite things to do. I taught myself how to record and engineer with Logic Pro x & pro tools, but I would say I’m probably mostly known for Modeling. In New York, I work with a lot of independent & local brands that kind of created this buzz for myself in the city. I’ve been featured on websites like Crooks N Castles, & Billionaire Boys Club, and again even landing on one of the biggest magazines in the world Vogue.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would just like to say to not forget to love one another. I feel like we as human beans tend to get caught up with what’s on paper or in our phones sometimes that we forget to be present and focus on the real important things of life.
