Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Powell, Sr.
Hi Daniel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Miami, FL. When I was a child, I was physically abused by my mom. I was told that I would never be anything but a liar and a thief for the rest of my life. So I battled with depression and low self-esteem and thought that I could never be anything or that I could never do anything. I felt that my life was hopeless. I was a junkie for years, starting at the age of 13 to 28. Before I met Jesus Christ, I smoked marijuana, used cocaine, and was a heroin addict. I was homeless, sleeping in abandoned houses and on top of abandoned buildings, feeling that I was about to lose my mind.
I also turned to being a gangbanger, selling drugs, and selling weapons. Until one day, I got locked up in prison and was given a nine-year sentence to serve in a federal prison. While in prison, I met Christ by being introduced to Him by my wife, Prophetess Esther Powell, and my life turned around. I only ended up serving 30 days of the nine-year sentence after I gave my life to Jesus!
Prophetess Esther Powell is the love of my life. We currently celebrate 42 years of marriage with three children and joyfully share in the lives of eleven grandchildren. A few years into our marriage, we relocated to Valdosta, GA, to be raised under the leadership and counsel of Head Apostle – Apostle Kathy Kinchen for ministry.
Today, I am Overseer, Prophet Daniel Powell, Sr., a servant of the Lord, a leader, husband, father, and grandfather. I founded Heaven to Earth Worship Center (HEWC) in Lakeland, FL, and Faith & Works Outreach Ministries alongside my lovely wife, Prophetess Esther Powell. I am the visionary and conference host of Broken Men On the Altar (BMOA). Under the instruction of the Holy Spirit, I dress the body of Christ for the coming of the Lord by laying the foundation of Jesus Christ. Laying the foundation of believers is imperative and has led and caused many to be revived in leadership, wisdom, and counsel from the Lord, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to have the fire of the Holy Spirit, and to be healed from sicknesses, diseases, and delivered from demonic oppression and generational curses.
I got where I am today through humility, brokenness, submission to leadership, obedience, and giving. I give through tithing, giving offerings, sowing seeds, giving first fruits, and giving sacrifice offerings. I have also gotten to where I am today by my faithfulness to my Lord, Jesus Christ, and by loving God and loving His people. I have been faithful concerning God’s word and His will.
The Lord Jesus Christ addressed me as a Prophet having the keys to the kingdom of heaven and selected me to walk heavily in the areas of the authority to call those things that are not as though they were an anointing for the barren – spiritually, financially, the childless womb; and great deliverance. I know the value of deliverance first-hand, and I often give a bold, detailed account of my deliverance from the old man – a former lifestyle of drugs, guns, demonic oppression, prison, and the enemy’s plot for self-destruction.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Struggles such as pain, hurt, trusting people, and living in poverty were some things I struggled with before I met Christ and during my early walk with Him. Through my forgiveness and giving, I have entered into my wealthy place and my prosperity, and I possess the agape love of God. My struggles and challenges caused me to believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord, Savior, and Deliverer. So, with that being said, it has not been a smooth road for me, but it has equipped and shaped me into the man I am today and will continuously grow and develop. Some of the struggles along my way began when I was a young man because of how I grew up and the choices I decided to make.
Many of my choices were due to how I perceived myself, which was a distorted image. This was due to what many people told me I could not become and would never be. I was not saved at this point in my life. I knew nothing about God’s perfect will or my now Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom I have been serving for 31 years. At the time, I thought my choices had best benefited me, and I did not know about the potential impact they could make on many others. Some of my choices resulted in me becoming addicted to drugs, serving time in prison, and experiencing homelessness. While in prison, I gave my life to the Lord and only served 30 days of a nine-year sentence.
I am now 37 years clean from drug use, I no longer make decisions that would result in me serving time in prison again, and I have purchased and owned several houses. All this has been possible because I have given my life to the Lord Christ Jesus and become a born-again believer. He has caused me to prosper in every area of my life spiritually, naturally, and financially.
He has caused me to gain victory over poverty, generational curses, and demonic oppression. A testimony I always share is from 16 years ago. I was so sick, and I had very high blood pressure, 189 over 89. The devil was trying to kill me because of a word God had spoken over my life before I came out of my mother’s womb. I weighed over 300 lbs, and I did not know that I was depressed with evil thoughts, causing me always to eat and to have a worrying spirit. The doctor told me that I needed to lose weight, but I did not know how. I was worrying about my life and what I did not have, which is evil in the eyes of the Lord.
I was wearing size 44 pants and size 3XL shirts. Then, one day, the Lord let me see myself, and I said, “Oh my God, is that me?” And He said, “Yes!” I cried, prayed, and talked to the Lord about my evil ways. Next, God spoke to me and said I will teach you how to “eat to live” and “not how to live to eat.” This was a revelation to me, and God Himself talked to me, and He taught me how to eat and trust Him.
So, I started eating to live and working out at the Y.M.C.A. gym, and I dropped to 165lbs, but that was too small, so I got back up to 185lbs. I am still at this weight now and wearing size 36 pants and large-size shirts, and my blood pressure is now in the normal range. I give all the glory to the Lamb of God! However, the testimony from this challenge/obstacle is that I did not know that the word God gave me was in the Bible.
(Proverbs 13:25, the excellent man eats to live, while the evil man lives to eat.) God will always take us back to His royal law. I did this by faith and works according to the scripture (James 2:14-26) — Jesus is still saving, healing, delivering, and blessing His people. My prayer is that this testimony helps someone. Jesus Christ is Lord of all; may you be rich in faith!

As an Overseer with apostolic grace, I have been assigned to birthing churches, overseeing ministries in Florida, Georgia, and the Philippines, and spiritually covering several itinerant evangelists and prophets.
Under the leadership of my international covering, K.K. Ministries, and Overseer, Apostle Kathy Kinchen, I have steered Faith & Works Outreach Ministries. From her guidance, I was equipped and recognized for my work in prison, street, hospital, and music ministry. Guided by God, I was led to the Tampa Bay area just seven years ago and now to Lakeland, FL, to manifest the ministry of Jesus Christ. Faith & Works Outreach Ministries is transforming lives through various initiatives, including a food distribution ministry, Open Heaven Academy for grades K-12, back to school giveaway, Christmas toy drive, Heaven to Earth Worship Center with diverse outreach programs, and more. Our impact extends to the Philippines and South Africa, spreading the message of hope and faith.
Teaching that faith without works is dead, this word revival has resulted in several published authors and businesses within the HEWC congregation. Many have given their lives to Christ by the moving of the Holy Spirit, and as a testament, many have been physically and emotionally healed, moved out of subsidized housing, and are now married. As the Heaven to Earth Worship Center sanctuary banner and ministry t-shirts proclaim, “Where Jesus is Using Ordinary People to Do Extraordinary Things!”
I am also most proud of the people God has surrounded me with who stand with me, love me, care for me, encourage me, and those who help me work the ministry to fulfill God’s will: my wife, family, ministers of Faith & Works Ministries, and ministers and members of Heaven to Earth Worship Center.
What sets me apart from others is that I am a visionary. I am the conference host of an annual conference in Lakeland, FL, called Broken Men On the Altar (BMOA). It is a conference for men and women. I was always a man who could be broken before the power of the Lord God almighty. Allowing the hand of God to deliver me from my hidden sins, to be broken, and to be able to stand. The Lord spoke to me and said, “You are and will always be a broken man; stay broken before me, and I will always be able to meet with you to deliver you, purge you, grace you, and cause you to stand in my presence.”
The BMOA conference is not about men and women going through hardship and the weight of that hardship; even though that might be so, the BMOA conference is more about being in the kingdom of God. This conference is ordained by the Lord, creating a stage for all who are saved or have a made-up mind to seriously surrender their lives to the Lord to become holy people. The Holy Spirit has brought together men and women to be broken in humility, crying out for the Lord’s help to strengthen us and to cause us to strive to become better servants of God spiritually, naturally, and financially. Moreover, this conference is for all who will allow the teachings from the speakers that the Holy Spirit has chosen to teach the word of God on how to become God-fearing in every area of our lives.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being humble is the most essential quality or characteristic of my success. Humbly submitting to God’s will and word is essential to fulfilling one’s destiny and purpose. Humility is just submitting to the love of Jesus Christ. I learned how to be humble by knowing that I am nothing when it comes to the presence of the Lord. I am nothing concerning the will of God, and because I have given my life to Jesus Christ, it belongs to Him. Christ is above me, and I do my best to obey Him.
For those who are early in their journey with Christ, I offer this counsel: humility, submission, and love are the keys to a prosperous life in Christ. As Proverbs 22:4 states, “The rewards of humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor, and life.” I also encourage you to believe in everything Christ has said about your life and His will for you. Furthermore, I advise you to be obedient to the word of God and to relinquish the need to always be right. Remember, the combination of faith and works will guide you on your journey.
