Rising Stars: Meet Chappell Cooper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chappell Cooper.

Chappell Cooper

Hi Chappell, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I would consider myself a Jill of many trades. I’ve worked in social services for so long, along with owning my own apparel business but I would always have friends and family members ask me random questions or favors. In moments of being unemployed, I would do favors for other people who own and business or want to start a business.

One day while venting to a friend about being unemployed and not wanting to go back into social work but still help people, she gave me the obvious idea of charging for my services. That’s how I got started, however, I am still learning the ropes and personalizing my services to find an area of virtual assistant services where I can offer the best quality of service for clients in need.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has not been a smooth road, however, I cannot say any outside influences contribute to that.

Because I have recently started this type of work and is not so social media savvy, I have had a hard time building clientele. However, I know with consistency and hard work that won’t be an issue for too long.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So for right now, I work as a freelance virtual assistant. While I do own another business, the virtual assistant gig has been a part of my day-to-day tasks. I specialize in basic assistance tasks to registering a new business for a client.

While I am still finding my niche, I would like to say that I simply specialize in making someone’s day-to-day just a bit easier. What sets me apart from my counterparts is my knowledge of knowing a little bit of everything, especially as it pertains to business owners. My professional yet friendly personality is a given in my services.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I would like to think that I was a corky know-it but very down-to-earth.

I never wanted to be the smarter kid in the room, I simply enjoyed learning so I was inquisitive which can be considered disrespectful or disruptive for a Caribbean (Jamaican) family.
