Petra Restaurant was created to bring authentic Mediterranean flavors and warm hospitality to Tampa. Inspired by the ancient city of Petra, we make every dish homemade with fresh ingredients and traditional recipes that feel like home. From our creamy hummus and crispy falafel to classics like mansaf, mandi, white beans, mosakan, molokya, okra, mahashy, and all varieties of kabab, every plate is crafted with heart and heritage. At Petra, you’re not just a guest — you’re family.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not always. We faced challenges with sourcing fresh ingredients, training staff on authentic recipes, and introducing traditional dishes like mansaf and mahashy to a new market. Rising food costs and a competitive restaurant scene also tested us. But every struggle made us stronger and more committed to sharing real homemade Mediterranean food with Tampa.

I run a scratch-made Mediterranean restaurant specializing in authentic dishes like hummus, falafel, mansaf, mandi, molokya, okra, mahashy, and all types of kabab. We are known for using fresh ingredients and traditional recipes that taste like home. What sets us apart is our genuine Middle Eastern hospitality — every guest is treated like family, and every dish is made with heart and heritage.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The best way to find a mentor is to build real relationships, not just ask for help. Connect with people you admire, ask thoughtful questions, and stay in touch. I’ve found mentors by showing genuine interest, attending industry events, and offering value first. Mentorship often starts with one good conversation and grows from there.
