Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Guzman
Hi Angelica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello! My name is Angelica Maria Guzman Montaño. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1994. I started in the world of entrepreneurship in 2018, looking for better opportunities to make my dreams and goals come true, always keeping innovation and creativity in mind.
When I lived in Colombia a few years ago, I was working on a few projects, such as: marketing networks, a cleaning company, developing an app for shopping online, jewelry and handmade, among others. During these experiences, I had some problems; so, I decided to get away from some of them to focus on what fulfilled me, not only my bank account but also my heart.
In 2021 I decided to only make Jewelry and Handmade in Colombia; and I started making art on bracelets, rings, charms, necklaces, among others. Through a process of searching for information I managed to add a special touch to the stones or quartz, giving them a meaning, since these natural elements of the earth help the person who acquires it with everyday situations in life that they have not been able to transform, for example with the stress, anxiety or depression.
I had a great year; so, I realized that my business was growing and I could no longer manage it alone; and because of this, in 2022 I partnered with my best friend and her husband to be able to expand the brand and start doing Digital Marketing on Social Networks. Currently, the jewelry is called Chic & Love. It has been a business that has been maintained over time in Colombia thanks to teamwork.
When I arrived in the United States of America two years ago, I realized that this country is full of great business and growth opportunities. I have been adapting and learning to live, since being an immigrant is not easy, especially when Latin customs such as food, music, people and language are not like those of your native country. It is a learning process with ups and downs.
So, months after being in the USA, I began to develop and enhance an art that I had learned. The business of CRAZY SWEET PARTIES (Cotton Candy with Custom Designs) was born. I began to shape them, innovate and go with the trend of children’s movies, characters such as (Inside Out, Minions, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek , among others). I feel very happy with this project, since day by day it connects me with my creativity and with children. Currently, I attend fairs and family events in different cities in Florida, United States. The idea is to continue growing, and to include more services to offer to our clients. We are working on it.
Well, it was a pleasure to have told my brief story in the world of entrepreneurship. I only have to say as a life experience, that many times it is not easy to achieve your dreams in a world with so many ideas and innovation, but the perseverance and the creativity makes our dreams come true. When you believe in yourself and when you know that the intention is always good, that makes your dreams materialize and come true!!
Thanks to God, to the support of my Husband, Parents, Brothers, Family and Friends for believing in me and being my greatest motivation in each of the projects.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been an easy road. I have had several difficulties along the way, including the economic issue, since many times getting the money to start a business is not easy. What I have done in recent years is to have a stable job where you can have a fixed income and then invest step by step in your project. I do not recommend leaving a steady job to go after your dreams. I did it before and that left me with losses. If you manage to do it, I hope you have a good amount of money saved or a good sponsor and an excellent project so that it leaves you with enough profits to reinvest and pay your expenses. Another difficulty I have had is the lack of information on legal procedures. You must be well informed before taking important steps in your business. There are many people who want to charge you too much money for documents or legal permits. Remember that you are just starting out and any amount of money adds or subtracts.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating cotton candy with custom designs. I started to shape them, innovate and go with the trend of children’s movies, characters such as (Inside Out, Minions, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, among others). The business has been recognized for being something novel and attractive not only by children but by the entire family. I have been proud to project my business to another level by implementing other services and edible products such as edible paper and ink, ice cream, honey, condensed milk, Dulce de Leche and more. Our good customer service and charisma makes our customers satisfied with our company.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I have taken several risks in the world of entrepreneurship, such as investing money in some projects in which I did not make a profit. I think it is a very common risk, but that is what life is about, trying and keeping in mind that sometimes you win or lose. Entrepreneurship is a gamble, although I have heard some entrepreneurs say that there is no good or bad business or idea, it depends on the passion with which things are done, if your idea fulfills you, moves your heart and is your passion. Be assured that this business will work.
