Meet Wedeline Casimir

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wedeline Casimir.

Hi Wedeline, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been singing since I could talk. I grew up singing in church but my talent was pretty much undiscovered until about 3rd grade. I grew up listening to MaryMary, Yolanda Adams, and my personal favorite Cece Winans.

I started writing my own songs when I fell in love with the keyboard in middle school, I soon picked up the guitar. I would come home from school and spend hours playing. My music is so personal to me and every song comes from an experience with God. I soon fell in love with musical theater on the stages of Tampa’s Performing Arts High School Blake High School and continued to grow musically even after I moved to Atlanta when I was just 16.

I always say I have two homes because though I was born in Tampa, I spent a good chunk of my pivotal years in Atlanta.

I achieved my degree at Florida State University in Sacred Music & Music Entrepreneurship. It was during my freshman year I released my first single “Majesty” and continued releasing music after that.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
So far, I don’t think I could say the road hasn’t been smooth. I think it’s all about perspective. If you are expecting your music to have a global impact overnight or even a few months you will most likely be often met with disappointment. I find the journey is about the long game and consistency to realize your full potential. What can be a challenge is staying committed to the things that aren’t directly related to your passion like social media (if you are a generally private person) because that is where you connect with your audience, or maybe you have a really huge vision for a song/album but do not have the budget or the resources. This is a struggle I have experienced because it pushes the deadline and dates you had originally planned back, so being adaptable is important.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am all things musical! I write, I sing, and I play. Music and singing specifically is my passion. My largest project to date has been accomplishing my first EP entitled “Unconquered” in 2020. Most recently, my proudest accomplishment is self-producing my latest single “There is a Man” with gifted musicians and singers that I know personally and call friends. I’ve always had a very hands-on approach when it came to my music when working with producers so to be the one fully leading this last project was huge for me.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Absolutely! I would tell all aspiring artists who might be scared to start or dreaming of one day sharing their music that you are the only you so that means there’s always room for what you have to offer. How do I know that? Because no one else is offering it. I think we should spend less time trying to stand out/compete and more time trying to be in tune with what’s genuine and authentic to us because that is what people respond to. Invest in your gifts, network, and let it all take the time it will take. Trust that you giving your best will result in the outcome you were meant to have. Lastly, don’t forget to stay grateful and thankful for every moment, person, and thing a part of the journey. Go the long game!
