Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Mattox.
Hi Pamela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
God often uses our deepest pain to fuel our greatest passion. Growing up in a low-joy, high-fear home with little nurture set me on a journey in my early twenties to find healing for my wounded heart. I have been pursuing wholeness ever since.
Along the way, God placed people in my life who modeled what healthy relationships look like. These men and women fanned the flames of my future calling by believing in me and investing in me.
Eventually, a counseling pastor in Orlando—whom I brought women to when their needs exceeded my skill set—offered to train me. That was the beginning of “Reclaim Your Heart,” and, ultimately, the launch of a prayer-counseling ministry in 2016.
They say a counselor can only carry you as far as they themselves have been healed. Many clients have pursued prayer counseling after discovering just how true that is.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The transition into ministry was a gradual one over a span of more than 25 years. What a joy it was to discover that—as I was working through my personal pain—God was equipping me with tools and experience to eventually help others find healing for their own. He was orchestrating a straight, smooth path into a calling that required me to overcome my own obstacles first in order to be effective in ministering to others.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about?
Healing is hard and holy work, and the Lord has called me to help women “reclaim their hearts”—to take back what sin, shame, and the enemy have stolen in life’s broken moments. With the gifts God has given me—writing, encouragement, hospitality, and training in prayer counseling and the Life Model—I am passionate about leading His beloved to the heart of the Father. What an honor to watch them move from hurt to healing as they encounter the peace, power, and perspective of Jesus in the very places that ache. When He steps into our brokenness, everything changes; weary souls find rest and broken hearts begin to mend.
A member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, I offer online prayer counseling sessions, intensives, and destination spiritual retreats to help women connect deeply with Jesus. I’m also working on a new program set to launch in the spring of 2026 called JoyTribes: Growing Holy Confidence in Joy-Filled Community.
I’ve found that not all wounds can be healed in a therapist’s office alone. We need an intimate relationship with Jesus, a multigenerational community, and the development of key relational skills. JoyTribes picks up where counseling and self-help books leave off. It’s a year-long membership course that offers 4–6 hours of practical ministry each month in a small-group setting, but at the cost of just one prayer counseling session. Members can expect to grow in relational confidence, increase their interpersonal awareness, and overcome many of the obstacles that keep them from emotional and spiritual growth.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
