Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Reeves.
Hi Melissa , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, I’m Melissa Reeves – the owner and creative behind Milestone Moments Events, a full-service balloon styling and event décor business based in Safety Harbor, Florida. I used to work in the corporate world until I took a leap of faith and started my own business. Funny enough, it was actually my husband’s idea—he saw how much joy I got from throwing elaborate parties for my friends and knew I could turn that passion into something more.
My love for decorating comes from my mom. I remember growing up with her hosting every event and our house decked out to the nines for every holiday and party. That magic of transforming a space into something special stuck with me, and it’s been at the heart of everything I do. Since the day I started, my business has continued to grow every single year, and I feel so grateful for the journey.
Every event I style is personal to me. I’m so grateful for every client who’s trusted me to help mark their special occasions—it means more than I can put into words. As I am in my third year in business, I’m excited to keep growing, keep creating, and keep helping people celebrate life’s big (and small) moments in unforgettable ways.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. One of the biggest challenges—one I never really anticipated—was pricing. It took a long time, a lot of research, and plenty of training with other balloon stylists who offered classes for me to truly understand how to price my work and run a profitable business. And if you ask my husband, he’ll tell you the real struggle is storage. Laughs. At the moment, my décor has completely taken over our garage, the spare room, and half the office… and somehow, I still find myself running out of space.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an event decorator who specializes in balloon décor, and I’ve become known for my attention to detail and love for a good theme!! I truly enjoy creating pieces that feel unique to each client and their celebration. One of the things I love about working with balloons is that there are endless ways to design with them—every artist has their own signature style. Over the years, I’ve had clients tell me they can spot my work right away, which is such a meaningful compliment and something I’m really proud of. It means the care, creativity, and personal touches I put into every project are coming through in a way people remember.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I’d say the quality that’s been most important to my success is adaptability. In the event world, anything can happen—timelines change, weather has a mind of its own, and sometimes a client will think of a brand-new idea the morning of their event. I’ve learned to pivot quickly, problem-solve on the spot, and still make it all look effortless. I also truly care about my clients and put my whole heart into every detail. And let’s be honest—it helps that I roll up with a giant tote full of “just in case” supplies, because in this line of work, you never know what you’re walking into.
