Marcella, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The first 9 years of my career were in human resources helping organizations bring the right people onboard and ensuring every candidate had a positive experience. If the individual joined the organization, I also guided them through their journey within the organization, from onboarding to their first day, benefit review period, and offboard if they decided to take their career a different direction. I also had the pleasure of supporting recruitment franchise owners and their teams for the remaining 3 years from an operational and training standpoint.
I however always had a passion for travel and was fortunate to travel from a young age. Growing up, I lived in Brazil for 13 years and visited many states in the country. Due to my competitive swimming career, I also explored other South American countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay. I even ventured as far as Istanbul in Turkey, Mexico, and of course different states in the USA.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, my husband and I founded Best Adventure Spots. Our aim was to help travelers visiting Southwest Florida (SWFL) have the best possible experience by guiding them to top attractions, acclaimed restaurants, engaging activities for families, couples, and groups, and other essential local highlights. When my husband and I found out we were expecting our son, Liam, I knew it would be challenging to raise our son while working a full-time 9-5 position. This is when a sudden realization came to mind. What if Best Adventure Spots transitions into a full-service travel agency helping individuals explore destinations around the world? I’ve always planned our vacations and we’ve both explored the country so why not?
Our research into the travel industry unveiled a significant demand for local travel advisors. Evidently, many individuals are actively seeking trusted professionals to meticulously plan their entire vacation, from start to finish. Since 2023, Best Adventure Spots has been creating vacations for various clients in FL and USA. From helping couples celebrate their honeymoon and anniversaries through ocean cruising to custom made vacations in Europe, it’s been a joy to make dream vacations into reality. The best part? I not only have the opportunity to do what I love, which is to help others create lifelong memories around the world but also raise my son alongside by husband.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, absolutely not!
Aside from starting Best Adventure Spots during the 2020 covid-19 pandemic, one of my biggest struggles was transitioning from a stable 9-5 role to the world of entrepreneurship while becoming a new mother. I knew entrepreneurship would bring less structure and uncertainty but what’s challenging is juggling the daily unpredictability of motherhood on top of growing Best Adventure Spots. It’s always been my strong suit to manage a demanding schedule and ensuring others are taken care of but my son definitely continues to test my ability to adapt and be more flexible each day. Overall, the journey has been challenging but also incredibly rewarding. I’m blessed to raise my son, do what I love, travel the world with my husband, and help clients with their travel adventures. Every obstacle has taught me valuable lessons that I can apply to both my personal and professional life.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Some of my fondest childhood memories come from growing up in Brazil. Summers were spent soaking up the sun at the beach with family and close friends, creating moments I’ll always cherish. We savored incredible seafood in Areia Vermelha, a unique floating beach in João Pessoa, enjoyed in local popsicles, and played games at the family’s beachfront house. Beyond those treasured times with loved ones, Brazil’s vibrant culture, warm-hearted people, and delicious cuisine hold a deeply special place in my heart.
