Meet Lola Dominguez of Domivis Swim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lola Dominguez

Lola, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career in marketing, helping startups and entrepreneurs grow their businesses, build their brands, and connect with their audiences. I loved the strategy, the storytelling, and the creativity—but deep down, I knew I wanted to create something of my own.

Fashion had always been a passion of mine, but I didn’t come from a fashion design background. I took the leap anyway, launching my own brand and learning everything through hands-on experience—designing, sourcing, manufacturing, and building a fashion label from the ground up. I initially started in couture presenting a limited collection during NYFW, but I quickly realized that I was more attracted to swimwear. It felt fun, flirty, and feminine. We celebrated the Domivis grand opening runway show at Miami Art Basel.

At my core, I’m still a marketer—just now, my product is swimwear.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Transitioning from marketing to fashion design wasn’t easy. I had no formal fashion training, and I had to learn everything—from designing and sourcing to manufacturing—through trial, error, and pure determination. Funding my business as an independent designer was another challenge, because product development and ethical manufacturing is so expensive. Despite my challenges, my background in marketing gave me a unique advantage—I knew how to build a brand, tell a compelling story, and connect with my audience in a way that resonated.

As you know, we’re big fans of Domivis Swim. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
For those discovering us for the first time, Domivis creates flirty, high-quality, Brazilian style women’s swimwear with an emphasis on versatility.

I’m proud to work with a woman-led manufacturer who helps me produce my unique products like reversible, multi-way tie bikinis that can be worn 15+ different ways.

I am also proud to give back and pass on my experience through my brand’s fashion internship program. For several semesters, I’ve mentored college students interested in fashion, marketing, and entrepreneurship at various universities. Through hands-on experience, our interns gain real-world skills, confidence, and leadership experience to pursue their own dreams.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for anyone just starting out—whether in fashion, business, or any creative field—is to just start. You’re never going to feel 100% ready, and waiting for the “perfect moment” will only delay your progress. The best way to learn is by doing, making mistakes, and figuring things out as you go.

I wish I had known that perfection isn’t required to be successful—consistency is. When I first started, I thought I had to have everything figured out before launching. The truth is, your brand, your skills, and your vision will evolve over time. Be open to pivoting, experimenting, and growing with your business.

Also, networking is everything. I’ve learned that relationships and collaborations can open doors faster than anything else. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

Lastly, trust yourself. There will be moments of doubt, setbacks, and obstacles that make you question everything. Keep going. If you have a vision, it’s because you’re meant to bring it to life.
