Meet Jessie Konynenbelt of Edison Eye Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Konynenbelt.

Hi Jessie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My husband and I opened Edison Eye Care because we wanted to provide truly personalized eye care — the kind of care that allows us to go home each day feeling proud, knowing we gave our patients the time and attention they deserve. In today’s world, it’s easy to get caught up in the quantity-over-quality mindset, but we wanted to create something different — a space where quality always comes first.

From the beginning, our goals were clear:

Schedule longer appointment times so every patient feels heard and cared for.

Invest in the latest equipment and stay current with the newest research.

Deliver the most thorough and memorable eye exam our patients have ever experienced.

We like to describe Edison Eye Care as having a ‘small-town, mom-and-pop feel’ within an upscale, modern environment — a perfect balance of warmth, excellence, and innovation.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve been incredibly blessed with wonderful, supportive patients who have helped our practice grow faster than we ever imagined. With that growth, however, has come new challenges — particularly finding the right balance between work and personal life, and learning how to effectively train and empower our staff to take on more responsibility. It’s an ongoing process, but one that’s helping us build a stronger, more sustainable practice for the future.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Edison Eye Care?
At Edison Eye Care, our goal is to be our town’s primary eye care provider — a place where patients know they’ll always be cared for, listened to, and treated as our top priority.

We’re a full-scope optometry practice offering comprehensive vision care for patients of all ages. My husband is a neuro-developmental optometrist, which means he specializes in pediatrics and sees children with a wide range of developmental abilities, as well as adults recovering from traumatic or acquired brain injuries. He also fits specialty scleral lenses for patients with corneal diseases or prior corneal trauma.

I primarily see adult patients, performing routine eye exams and managing ocular diseases such as dry eye, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.

What truly sets us apart is the level of time and attention we dedicate to each patient. We schedule one-hour appointments to ensure every patient receives thorough, personalized care. We like to think of ourselves as concierge-level providers — offering an elevated experience while still accepting insurance.

Brand-wise, we’re most proud of our unwavering commitment to always putting the patient first. Our practice has a high-end optical boutique with a 1920s-inspired vibe — blending modern technology with timeless style. Above all, we strive to provide personal, meaningful eye care, and we’d love the opportunity to be your eye doctors!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
We truly could not have started this practice without the incredible support of my family. In those early days, my parents and brother were right there with us — answering phones, helping at the front desk, and scheduling patients. Their encouragement and hands-on help made all the difference. We’re so grateful for everything they did to help us bring our vision to life.

We’re also incredibly grateful for our wonderful staff, who treat our patients like family. Their hard work, dedication, and genuine care for each person who walks through our doors is something we deeply appreciate and value every day.
