Meet Jenny Rodriguez of Tampa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Rodriguez.

Hi Jenny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in mental health really began with a passion for human connection and helping people navigate life’s most pivotal transitions. I started my career working hands-on in community and educational settings as a home and school-based therapist. Supporting children, teens, and families through systemic challenges gave me a deep appreciation for intergenerational dynamics and the ripple effect of emotional wellness.

Over time, my vision grew toward creating a dedicated space where I could offer holistic, specialized care. That inspired me to step into full-time independent private practice with Empowered Mental Health. Today, I specialize in guiding individuals and couples through anxiety, life transitions, perinatal mental health, and relational intimacy. Transitioning into private practice has allowed me to craft a practice rooted in healing, connection, and true empowerment—helping clients build meaningful, grounded lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think building anything meaningful comes without a few bumps along the way! Transitioning from the structure of a full-time contract to launching and running Empowered Mental Health independently was definitely a leap of faith.
As clinicians, we receive extensive training in human behavior, therapy modalities, and crisis care, but we don’t always get a manual on business management. Learning the entrepreneurial side—everything from commercial leasing and digital marketing to administrative systems—was a huge learning curve. On top of that, balancing business ownership with family life and motherhood requires constant intention.
But every struggle produces resilience and seeing the real impact my practice has on my clients’ lives makes every single hurdle worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and the founder of Empowered Mental Health. My practice is dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life’s pivotal transitions—whether that is managing anxiety, stepping into parenthood, processing family-of-origin dynamics, or strengthening marital intimacy.
I’m known for bringing a grounded, warm, and highly collaborative energy into the therapy room. Clients often share that I help them bridge the gap between deep self-insight and practical, daily life application—like turning complex relationship dynamics into actionable habits or using present-moment grounding to navigate overwhelming life changes.
What sets Empowered Mental Health apart is our commitment to holistic, lifelong care. We don’t just focus on symptom management during a crisis; we look at the whole person and the intergenerational stories they carry. We help clients honor their past while intentionally building their future under our core pillars: Healing, Connection, and Empowerment.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We are entering an era of mental health literacy where therapy is viewed as essential wellness rather than a stigma. Over the next decade, I see the industry shifting toward integrative, preventative care—where people use therapy to maintain strong relationships, regulate their nervous systems through major life changes, and break intergenerational patterns before crises hit. The future belongs to practice models that offer genuine human connection, tailored care, and real-world tools for everyday empowerment
