Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Tapia.
Hi Heather, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been an Artist since I was a young child. I started selling my Art early in my teenage years and then formed my business while completing my Fine Arts study at the University of South Florida.
I studied under professional artists in middle school at Rochelle School of the Arts and in high school under professional artists at Harrison’s School of the Arts. I was fortunate to study every day in the Polk Musuem of Art. Seeing all of the exhibits was inspiring.
I started a niche of Ultrasound Paintings for expecting parents when I was pregnant with my first son. I had painted his Ultrasound to capture the excitement of the moment, and the demand to do this from others followed as people saw my painting.
I currently do custom Luxury Fine Art per my collectors’ requests, sell my own Fine Art, and create Ultrasound Paintings.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have had many successes, like getting featured in Child Magazine, on Good Day Sacramento, local newspapers, and TV with my ultrasound art. And more recently exhibiting at the Tampa Museum of Photographic Arts and at West Elm in Hyde Park Village in South Tampa.
There have been struggles along the way with doubting whether or not I could put myself out there with my Art and succeed. I think there is always that fear of rejection when starting out.
I overcame that by focusing on my goals and purpose to uplift others with my Art and staying dedicated to communicating about my Art and putting myself out there! Success breeds success, so that is what I have focused on!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently focused on creating High-Quality, Luxury pieces of Art to fit the needs of my Collector’s Commissions and I am creating a new body of work comprised of Luxury, High- End paintings for a show that I plan to do later this year. I also do custom commissions for my Collectors based on their needs and wants. I love creating Art that uplifts people and makes their space brighter. Or capturing a special moment for them in a work of Art!
I have a special niche of creating Ultrasound Paintings for expecting parents. I enjoy being involved in creating Art for parents of such a magical moment in their lives.
My Art is bright and colorful, and lively, and that sets me apart from others. I use a lot of design, textures and bold colors in my artwork which make you feel alive. Someone recently told me that my Art inspired them to create!
I am most proud of being able to use my Art to help my Collectors capture their special moments or their vision in a work of Art that they can enjoy for years to come. Often, I do work for others that will be gifted to a special family member, and then when I hear or see the reaction their family has when receiving their gift of Art is truly rewarding!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That a lot of my paintings are finger-painted!
