Today we’d like to introduce you to Drashmeir Vincent
Hi Drashmeir, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into entrepreneurship actually happened by accident. It all started when a friend of mine graduated during the height of the COVID pandemic. Since there wasn’t an in-person ceremony at the University of South Florida, I wanted to make their day feel a little more special, so I decorated their graduation cap. Although it wasn’t my best work, before I knew it, my friends started asking me to design their grad caps too. They would tag me in their stories with their caps, and I’d repost them on Instagram. Then, more people started asking me to make theirs. That’s when I realized I could turn this into an actual business and took a leap of faith by creating a social media page for it. At the time, I was only doing graduation cap toppers, so Drash Be Cappin was the perfect name since its a play on words from a combination of my name and the fact that I was all about designing custom caps. It’s funny because now I mainly design graduation stoles but I love the name.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road or a walk in the park. One of my biggest struggles has been figuring out pricing. In the beginning, I undercharged a lot because I wasn’t confident in my work, and I just didn’t know what my expenses would look like. It took time to learn how to properly value my time, creativity, and the quality of my work. Balancing everything has been a challenge too. I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree, working a 9-5 job, and running my business at the same time. On top of that, I had to teach myself how to create content for social media and put myself out there, which isn’t always easy. I’ve always been more of a behind-the-scenes type of girl so being visible and building a brand is definitely outside of my comfort zone.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Drash Be Cappin is a business that specializes in creating personalized graduation essentials like graduation cap toppers, stoles, fans, and more. I help graduates celebrate their big day with made-to-order designs that reflect their personality, school pride, and achievements.
What sets Drash Be Cappin apart is that I’m truly a one-stop shop for all things graduation. If you need a custom cap topper, personalized stole, custom grad apparel, or even fans, I’ve got you covered. I also have the ability to serve my clients as a stylist for their graduation photoshoot. I’ve had the opportunity to style three graduates so far, helping them with everything from choosing the perfect hairstyle to smaller details like picking accessories that bring their look together.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how much I’ve grown as an entrepreneur. If you asked me when I first started undergrad if I’d ever have a business, I would have said no. What started as a creative hobby turned into something that has reached people far beyond my local community. Knowing that graduates see my work and genuinely trust me to be part of such an important milestone is incredibly humbling. At Drash Be Cappin, we’re not just providing a service—you’re getting an experience. From the moment you reach out, you can trust that you’ll be heard, supported, and taken care of every step of the way.
How do you think about happiness?
As a creative, what truly makes me happy is building LEGO sets. Over the last few months, I’ve really fallen in love with it. Between school, work, and running my business, it’s hard to find time to just relax and clear my mind. Finishing a LEGO set is so satisfying, especially when I get to watch the movie or show the set is based on while completing the set. It’s my own little escape from every day life. Outside of that, being around my community, my family and friends, always makes me happy. Spending time with them is the best recharge. Above it all, reading the Bible and spending time with Jesus Christ brings me the most joy and peace.
