Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny White.
Hi Danny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
After graduation from high school in 1976, I enlisted in the United States Air Force. There, I earned numerous service medals and performance awards. After eleven years, I left the Air Force to pursue life as a civilian. After stints in restaurant management, on-air retail customer service, and lastly pharmacy benefits customer service management, I retired from the corporate world in 2010. Always a hopeful person with an eclectic group of friends throughout my entire life journey, one thing that I realized was conspicuously missing was the absence of open, honest, and respectful conversations about race and racism in America. This became more and more evident as I filled my retirement days with volunteer activities from my local civic association, to being a guest docent at the Florida Holocaust Museum, to joining the national and local branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), and being elected Co-Chair of a coalition associated with the Equal Justice Initiative ((EJI) called Pinellas Remembers. In 2018, I incorporated nonprofit RaceWithoutIsm, Inc. RaceWithoutIsm is my life’s passion project. The mission of RaceWithoutIsm is to bring those missing open, honest, and respectful conversations about race and racism to the forefront, putting intellect over emotion. Through months of research, I assembled a timeline that amplifies pivotal and factual historical events that directly impacted the assimilation of African Americans into the fabric of the United States, from 1492 to present day. It is my charge to help bring people together, from all walks of life, to be change agents in the ongoing quest to eradicate racism. Our tag line and challenge is Are You Brave Enough?’
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth? Absolutely not! I had no expectations that starting a business would be a cakewalk! First and foremost is the challenge of securing funding for a nonprofit, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted and continues to impact grantor resources, both public and private. Further, the very mission of RaceWithoutIsm is not the most palatable or easy to promote as a value-add because the return on investment is not easily measured. Understanding this conundrum, I sought to put a face to RaceWithoutIsm by bringing emerging indie singer/songwriter/actress/model Siobhan Monique onboard as official spokesperson. With Siobhan’s multicultural appeal and reach, she carries the mission of RaceWithoutIsm into the public space through the proven power of music to unite human beings.
We’ve been impressed with RaceWithoutIsm, Inc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I want people to know is that there is an urgent need for out-loud conversations about the genesis of the construct called race and the evergreen persistence of the resulting institution of racism in America. I have a strong history in platform facilitation as a Fortune 50 corporate trainer; my primary discipline being management and leadership development. I parlay those skill sets into facilitating tough, sensitive conversations about race and racism. My approach to the subject involves the use of and intellectual exploration of solid, indisputable historical and modern-day factual events where race and racism are unequivocally present; whether the event occurred as a result of legal injustice, civil rights infringement, employment denial, law enforcement infractions, education, and health disparities, etc. Interested private and public entities are welcome to review my teaching timeline at www.RaceWithoutIsm.com.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
To be successful, as Founder and President of my nonprofit, and especially in consideration of its purpose, I think it is imperative that I respect that others will take exception to my vision and methodology in delivering the mission. My very demonstration of tolerance, inclusivity, empathy and respect are crucial to mitigate perceptions of hypocrisy.

I am so proud to be a blood relative of Danny Evans White. I share his vision and his mission. It is easy to enjoy the benefits of the blood, sweat and tears of those who dared and dare to question the status quo. It is revolutionary to be an active participant of change; realizing “the struggle continues”.
