Today we’d like to introduce you to Celine Duvoisin.
Hi Celine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Valhalla in 2014, after working for Publix for around ten years. I wanted to do something where I could be myself and express myself more authentically. I grew up on the street in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and battled with addiction and homelessness very early in my life. Having creative outlets has always been how I kept myself on track,
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening a business is never a smooth road. You think you’re doing the right thing, and you’ve got it, and then bam, now you have to totally change plans and directions. Construction is ALWAYS a struggle. It goes in every direction and when dealing with old buildings, you never know what you’ll find when you open up a wall.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in egg free dairy free desserts and pastries that nobody realizes are. We want you to have the full experience of a delicious treat without using those items. I’m the proudest of our entire St Pete location, honestly. It’s beautiful when you walk in. It’s everything I envisioned when I created the brand and has helped give me visual direction for our other locations rebuild in Orlando.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I think the thing that people love to find out is that I was a gorilla in a burlesque show with Dita Von Teese in the late 90’s or early thousands. The second thing is that I traveled across Canada with the carnival when I was 14.
