Meet Anne Brunache

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Brunache.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At a young age, I could remember locking myself up in my room just to sing through karaoke tracks on Youtube. I can remember the whole house would be filled with my loud singing and I was constantly told to stop, but I never would, I would try and sing quieter. That room was my happy place, the place where I felt like the whole world did not matter.

When I first came up with the idea of Stand Out, I was in high school and wanted to create a music program at my school that allowed people to express themselves freely through music. I was very shy in high school, but the music was where I was able to find my freedom and freely be myself and I wanted others to experience that freedom.

The Stand Out Glee club grew and I was able to watch it transform the lives of children for three years. Ever since that, I knew that I wanted to go off to college for music in order to grow and provide quality musical education to others. I am a classically trained vocalist and I specialize in the Kodaly method for teaching sigh-singing. I was able to use my knowledge and teach at a well-known music school in California and at a Conservatory in L.A. for several years while I obtained my B.A. I also worked with industry professionals who mentored me over those years.

While I was obtaining my B.A., I was struck with a multi-organ failing auto-immune disease and had no clue how I was going to make It through to the end. This experience completely destroyed me because I had lost the ability to sing the way I used to and the way I was able to perform as an overall musician. During that process, I learned how to retrain my voice and improve my musicianship.

After that experience, I knew that I no longer wanted to waste time not doing what I loved which is music and teaching it to others. Eight years after starting the Stand Out Glee Club, I decided to turn the club into Stand Out School of Music and teach students who are passionate about music and bring that musical outlet to Tampa.

I am a classically trained musician who enjoys the freedom of singing and playing in different genres like pop, RnB, musical theater, and so much more. I specialize in the Kodály method which I use in my teaching to build the musicianship of my students.

I have been teaching for ten years and there is nothing else I would rather be doing. I am passionate about providing a quality musical education while also providing a supportive and fun environment for students. I have taught nationwide and have prepared students for many auditions like the Voice and for college auditions. I focus on technique and showing you your true capabilities!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a new music school has not been a smooth road. Not only am I a female in the industry, but I am also a minority and to some people, it may not seem like I have the knowledge and experience. I ran into a family once who was looking for music lessons for their kids and asked if I was the only teacher who taught that instrument, at the time I was and when I said “yes,” I never heard back from them again.

Another challenge that I have faced is being new in the community and connecting our school known within our community has always been our priority and it still is to this day

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a musician that loves many genres of music. I am a songwriter, singing, and music theory nerd! I am known for being able to teach a student how to better understand their voice and control it. I have worked with tone-deaf students and helped them stay on pitch. I believe that everyone can sing and it is with the proper training and understanding will you be able to grow. I also specialize in the Kodály method which helps grow a musician’s musicianship.

I am most proud of all the students that I am able to work with and teach, whether it’s singing, piano, songwriting, etc. I am proud when they grow in their craft. I have worked with children as young as 3 and it amazes me how much a student can grow once they’re really committed to learning and having fun.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important thing to my success is to constantly learn and improve in my musicianship in order to teach my students and to be a patient person, not only does that help when hiring staff members but also when teaching people.
