Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Provenzano.
Mike, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My career has taken a few different turns, but I think that’s what has made the journey so interesting.
I spent nearly 30 years in the technology industry, including about 20 years running my own business. At the same time, I always had a creative side that I wanted to explore, which eventually led me to acting.
I’ve now been working professionally as an actor for more than a decade, and what started as stepping into something completely different has grown into the focus of my career. Along the way, I expanded into spokesperson and content creation work, which has given me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of brands while continuing to build my acting career in film, television, and commercials.
Interestingly, the two sides of my career complement each other more than I ever expected. My years as an entrepreneur taught me how to understand businesses, audiences, and what companies are trying to accomplish, while acting taught me how to communicate naturally and authentically on camera.
If there’s one theme to my story, it’s that you’re never locked into one path. I’ve had the opportunity to build a successful business, reinvent myself professionally, and continue challenging myself in completely different ways. More than a decade into this chapter, I’m still growing, still pushing myself, and still excited about what comes next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’m not sure the worthwhile ones ever are.
One of the biggest challenges was walking away from the stability of a business and an industry where I had spent nearly 30 years building a career. I had experience, relationships, a track record, and a pretty good idea of what tomorrow was going to look like. Then I chose to enter the entertainment industry and, in many ways, start all over again from scratch.
I remember when I was first getting started, someone told me, “You realize you’re going to be competing for roles against guys who have been acting for 30 years?”
My response was simply, “So?”
I think that says a lot about how I approached the whole thing. I knew I was starting later than some people and that I had a lot to learn, but I never saw that as a reason not to do it. I had already spent decades building one career. I knew what it meant to work hard, learn, compete, and keep going when things didn’t happen as quickly as you wanted them to.
Acting, however, brought a completely different kind of uncertainty. You hear “no” far more often than you hear “yes”—and most of the time, you don’t hear anything at all. You can prepare, train, audition, make connections, and do everything you’re supposed to do, and still have no idea where the next opportunity will come from.
Going from that level of stability to starting over from scratch was probably one of the biggest adjustments for me. But it also taught me to focus on what I can control—being prepared, continuing to improve, creating my own opportunities, and showing up consistently.
More than a decade later, I’m still here, still working, and still pushing toward bigger goals. Looking back, I think that one-word answer I gave when I started still sums up my attitude pretty well: “So?”
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At the core of my professional life, I’m an actor. I’ve been working professionally for more than a decade across film, television, commercials, and other on-camera projects. Over time, that work has also expanded into being a spokesperson and UGC creator, where I’ve had the opportunity to work with brands across a wide range of industries.
What I specialize in is being comfortable and natural on camera. Whether I’m playing a character, delivering a commercial message, or speaking directly to an audience for a brand, I want it to feel like a real person communicating—not someone simply reciting lines.
One thing that sets me apart is the career I had before acting. I spent nearly 30 years in technology and was a tech entrepreneur, so when I work with a brand, I tend to look at the project from both sides of the camera. I’m thinking about the performance, but I also understand that there’s a business objective behind it. The content ultimately has to accomplish something.
I’m proud of the fact that I’ve been able to build a second professional career from scratch and continue growing it more than a decade later. I’m also proud when clients come back and want to work with me again. To me, repeat relationships are one of the best compliments you can receive because they mean you delivered something that worked and that you were someone they wanted to work with again.
As for what I’m known for, I think it’s versatility. I can be the trustworthy professional, the everyday guy, the dad, the executive, or someone you probably shouldn’t trust quite as much as you initially thought. I enjoy all of it.
Ultimately, I still approach every project with the same mindset I had when I started: keep getting better, be prepared, be easy to work with, and never assume you’ve reached the point where there isn’t something new to learn.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to connecting with people who have an interesting story, project, brand, or idea.
Professionally, I work as an actor, spokesperson, and UGC creator, so I’m available for film and television roles, commercials, brand partnerships, and on-camera content. I especially enjoy collaborations where there’s room to bring some personality and creativity to the project.
And as far as supporting me—watch the work, share it, follow along, or just reach out and say hello. Some of the best opportunities I’ve had started with a simple conversation.
