Life & Work with Jessika Morgan of New Tampa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessika Morgan.

Jessika Morgan

Hi Jessika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Former Domestic Violence victim turned advocate, activist, community leader, civil/criminal recovery consultant, social entrepreneur and mother with a background in criminal justice/mental health/substance abuse and workforce/youth development. I have to experienced abuse by my daughters Father during and after the relationship. When I went to the court system for help I was introduced to another form of abuse post separation abuse and further traumatized by the system in what has been termed Court Induced Trauma. I survived my abuser and also survived years of post separation abuse through the Family Court System. I turned my pain in to power and realized that our purpose is tied to our pain. I share my experience strength and hope with other survivors and focus on healing, thriving.

Her purpose is to empower, inspire and transition victims from merely surviving to thriving through providing tools of healing, love and empowerment. Jessika is a passionate advocate/activist for survivors of domestic violence and lobbies local, state and federal governments to ensure communities and the justice system provides effective support services to survivors. She also promotes for Family Court Reform accross the United States through education and awareness.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Had to learn the red flags 🚩 of DV and also the other pink and yellow flags. Warning signs of abuse long before the physical abuse ever occurs. I had to physically mentally emotionally and spiritually and financially and I am still on my healing journey as well in some ways. Healing is like peeling layers of an onion. I still have some triggers sometimes but I am reasonably happy today and thriving and I get to give back to other survivors lessons and wisdom I learned the hard way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Advocate, activist, community leader, civil/criminal recovery consultant, social entrepreneur, Certified Peer Support Specialist. I specialize in Victim Advocacy and Criminal Justice.

Most proud of my beautiful children and that despite everything I have been through I chose to heal and forgive. So my strength and courage that was given to me by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck didn’t play a part at all it was all by God’s Design. See God does not waste a hurt, he recycles them and uses them for his glory if we just let him.
