Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Morales.
Hi Gabriela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Hi! My name is Gabriela Morales, and I am currently a full-time occupational therapy assistant by day and an artist by night. I have refound my love for art after putting it aside for a long time. I’ve slowly turned my artistic interest into commission work by doing custom paintings for family, friends, and co-workers.
I am thankful to them for inspiring me, and for giving me hope that I can transition my art, from just a hobby, into something that I can picture as being part of my next chapter in life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’m still somewhat new to the art world and am in the middle of finding my niche in the market. I am looking forward to exploring new art techniques as I stay true to myself and my art. I just recently participated in my first ArtWalk in Orlando, and just entered my first juried art competition in Lakeland, FL in which I placed 3rd. So I am very hopeful that there are better things to come!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My main focus right now is figurative art including people, animals, and landscapes. I currently work in different media including oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and colored pencil.
Through my art, in which I love capturing the essence of a person, the atmosphere of a place, and the impact of a scene on someone’s life, I hope to recreate the overall human experience with all its ups and downs. I am most proud of my openness to experiment with different types of art mediums.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I know that success in the art market can depend on being in the right place at the right time or having the right connections so I very much appreciate this exposure on your platform. I hope that the quality of my work and my reputation will have a greater influence in the success of my art and that my pieces of art will continue to resonate on an emotional and intellectual level.
