Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Quinn.
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story began in New Hampshire, where I was raised and lived for 27 years! I moved to Fort Myers Florida in January 2019, the best decision I ever made! When I moved to Florida, my photography business Mermie’s Photography really flourished!
I mainly shot food photography for local restaurants and family portraits on the beach. In 2017, I began my journey toward my Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Media arts! I now have over eight years of experience in photography, and six years in graphic design!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Everyone has their own obstacles and challenges throughout life, but without these, we wouldn’t be who we are today! If I could go back, I wouldn’t. A recent struggle I had was surviving hurricane Ian, and being forced to move away from my first Florida home, Fort Myers. The destruction of the area really removed any possibilities of work in the area for many years to come. I had to mourn for my beautiful city as I also tried to imagine rebuilding my business in a new area.
In just a short 3 months, I have already been blessed with so many amazing opportunities, I honestly don’t know where to begin! I even joke about the hurricane blowing me on over to where I was meant to be. I have done photos for a local taco shop, created a logo for the first kava bar to open in Nashville, and am now working with an amazing artist, Rowland Fine Art! I am blessed in so many ways.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m so passionate about my work, and have been told that it really shows! I’m a branding specialist who helps bring small business owners’ dreams into reality! I provide photography packages to businesses and work with many different genres. I’ve done everything from pet portraits to real estate! My favorite genre of art is actually graffiti, so you’ll find that a lot of my art is super colorful, bright, and unique. I’ve come so far in my life and career, which I’m extremely proud of! What sets me apart from others is my quirky, spontaneous personality. My sun sign is Gemini, and my moon sign is Scorpio, which speaks a lot about who I am!
I recently started a business with my brother, Nick Quinn. He is such an inspirational, positive human being and I believe that everyone should know this man! At the end of last year, we started a business together with the genius mind that he has – Milky Way Paradise! We are in the stages of launching, which is an apparel business with a sustainability focus! Can’t wait to share more on this once we’re launched!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
An app that I recently started using is Asana!
It has helped me set and achieve deadlines in my busy life as an entrepreneur! I use Honeybooks for my photography and graphic design work, and Smugmug as my image storage and portfolio website! These three tools help me on a daily basis and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the same field!
