Today we’d like to introduce you to Arielle Ricotta.
Hi Arielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In high school, I would color my best friend’s hair all the time. I was lucky he would allow me to! Even then, I changed my hair color all the time. It was always exciting. When graduating high school, I worked at Aveda as a shampoo girl/assistant. While going to hair school full time and assisting at Aveda immediately after school and on my days off. Once licensed, I was put on the floor to do hair. I decided to venture off on my own when a manager I loved decided to leave. I knew things wouldn’t be the same. I’ve been a business owner for almost six years!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, I wouldn’t say so. It’s a really competitive industry and I’m honestly a little introverted. With being that way, the salons I worked at sometimes took it the wrong way and I would almost be punished for it by them not booking me clients. You have to be really dedicated to making it in this industry.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a hairstylist/business owner. I have my own suite at my salon suite in clearwater. I mostly love big changes, so major haircuts. Blonding is what I specialize in. Highlights are my favorite to do. I think what sets me apart from others is I actually listen to my clients, and I communicate throughout it all. I want to be sure they are getting exactly what they came for.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
Going out on your own is a huge risk. ESPECIALLY with leaving an Aveda salon. People go to that salon for the products, and it’s something you cant get while on your own. During the pandemic, I also moved my salon two times! With every move, you lose clients. But I knew what I wanted for my clients. And the environment is perfect.
