Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Taylor
Anna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Taylored Affairs (formerly Toasted Affairs) in July of 2019. My first taste of the wedding industry was in 2018 when I got engaged to my best friend- Jonathan Taylor. I planned my wedding all by myself until about two months before the big day my friend mentioned I should get a day of coordinator. I had never even heard of this position before and was instantly intrigued. I luckily found one who was available. When I saw everything she did and how she got to work with couples almost every weekend, I was instantly hooked. I was teaching at the time, and after I finished that year, I decided to start my own business as a wedding planner! I got certified through the Lovegevity Wedding Planning Institute and launched my business a couple of months later. Since then, I have worked a lot of weddings, attended retreats, planned styled shoots, and networked with local wedding vendors. A couple of months into starting Taylored Affairs, the world was struck with the COVID-19 pandemic, but I used the quarantine time to my advantage and really organized my backend systems. It was a blessing in disguise because I feel so ready for 2021 and 2022 weddings! I also started offering Pop Up Micro wedding packages, which have been so fun and a hit! I hosted one on October 17th at Lovelock Ranch and another on November 28th at The West Events. The couples get 2.5 hours for a ceremony and cocktail-style reception. It’s an all-inclusive package and completely stylized. These have been so refreshing, and I really see them carrying on past the pandemic. Starting Taylored Affairs has been a true dream. It has been a way for me to feed my creative soul while also helping others! There is no greater feeling than watching two people come together in love–and I get to do it almost every weekend!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t believe starting a business is ever smooth, but that’s what makes it worth it! I love a challenge and starting Taylored Affairs was just that. I had to learn about LLC’s, taxes, how to make a website, and so much more that I never thought I would be doing. The COVID-19 pandemic did put a damper on the momentum I had built, it was a blessing in disguise! It has only made me more excited to power on and get more couples married.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I offer three packages, full planning, partial, and month-of coordination. I love when I get a full or partial client because then I can really be a part of the design process. As a creative, I love to get inspired by something (a color, place, piece of furniture, flower, etc.) and build a whole day around that inspiration. I love couples who aren’t afraid to do things a little differently! When people ask me, “Well, how is it suppose to be done?” I always say, “How do YOU want it done?” Non-traditional couples are my jam. It’s your day, it’s your money, and it’s your love story. Your wedding day shouldn’t be like all the rest of them!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I am recently in the process of adding to my business and growing a team! Establishing a solid team is one of my main goals for 2021. I would love to take on more couples and grow my business even more. I recently launched some new branding and I would love to take it a couple of steps further with some gear for my team members and clients. Another goal of mine is to be featured in a magazine. I would love for future brides to turn through a bridal magazine and be inspired by one of my weddings!
