Hi Paul, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of building my brand, Nuovo Inizio (New Beginning) it’s an Italian based streetwear/ athletic wear brand I started in memory of my grandmother who passed away in November of 2021.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My names Paul Alampi I was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA, coming up as a kid I was always into sports, such as basketball, hockey, and soccer. As I got into high school I stopped sports and got into selling and doing drugs, life quickly went downhill and got into a lot of different trouble. After so many years battling the streets and drugs etc. I got into a treatment center after my 5th try in my hometown and came to West palm beach Fl. I got the help and stayed in a halfway house and did the necessary steps to move on With life and my recovery. I’ve always been into fashion it was a stepping stone that brought my happiness when I felt I had nothing else. I started my clothing brand in 2021 right as my grandmother passed away from dementia. She was my rock and everything to me, the back round of Nuovo Inizio is something she said to me as I was trying to get my life together. This is for her! But also my friends that didn’t get to see another day. It’s the next best thing!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I think it was about 2019 when I really felt like it was time to put into the steps of starting something so special. I knew i had this talent and obsession to become the next best thing in apparel so I was in 100% and did my research and homework to make this work.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! A lot of times you’ll have doubt when things aren’t working out in your favor, but that’s the point anything worth having won’t come easy and I know that. I think it’s important to just take your time and know when it’s right to take some steps back to relax in order to take the next steps forward. I enjoy the challenge! It’s also a learning experience, you learn new things everyday the grind never stops.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! Of course I have no reason to hide or lie about who I am, and also who I was in the past, the point of this brand is to explain what we are about and the changes we have made to become to be.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I started this in memory of my people that didn’t get a chance to see another day due to addiction/streets/ and also suicide. That’s my background of the brand and hope you can also relate when it comes to Nuovo Inizio.
