Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Natalie Kulka of St. Petersburg

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Natalie Kulka. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Create in large volumes. I think that I have historically had a habit of being a bit of a “perfectionist” with the music I create, and what I ultimately release and share. I’m slowly starting to break out of my shell and put out more music and content that is less “perfect” in my eyes but more honest. That’s really I’m valuing right now – sharing a larger volume of music in real time, focusing more on the songs and stories they tell rather than a polished video or recording every time. There’s a time and a place for a professional studio recording, but I think it’s about balance and building a relationship with your listeners. Social media is a great tool to do that.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I’m Natalie! I am a singer-songwriter living in St. Pete. I have spent the last year focusing on writing more music and sharing it through songwriters rounds that my partner and I organized around St. Pete. My EP, “Natalie Kulka: Live in the Songwriters Round” is coming out February 14th and it features three new songs recorded at one of these songwriters rounds in September of 2025.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My boyfriend, Jake. He really has had such an impact on how I see myself, my music career, and the life I want to create. He pushes me every day to get out of my comfort zone, and his background in business and marketing has helped me develop strategies to grow my audience. We have written a few songs together which started as something we did just for fun, but turned into the creation of some of my/our best songs. The second track on the EP, “Living with LouAnn” is one that we wrote together. It is really special to see how both of our writing styles contributed to this song that we love so much, and also to share the excitement around this release with him.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t change your musical style for anyone else. There is an audience for all types of music – focus on your strengths and finding the people that connect with your stories rather than trying to cater to an audience that doesn’t feel like yours.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, and I am proud to say that. This “Live” EP is my way of showing that I am at a place in my life that I want people to see the real me and what I have to offer. There’s no pitch-correction on this EP, and because of that, I think my voice comes through in a way where you can hear how passionate I am about these songs and performing them.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Releasing all of the songs that have been sitting in my “vault” for the last couple of years. This EP is just the beginning of what I have planned for 2026 releases.
