LIUDMYLA NIKOHOSIAN shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
LIUDMYLA, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Lately, I feel deeply proud of the work I’ve done. Over the past year, my salon has completely transformed — not just in how it looks, but in how it feels. I’ve been able to invest in professional furniture and high-quality equipment to make the space truly comfortable for clients and my team.
I’m proud that people trust me and recommend me, that every day my schedule is full, and that my clients come not only for beauty but for peace and connection.
And even though English is still my second language, I’m proud that I can now communicate, understand, and share my story with people here. For me, this means growth — personal, professional, and emotional.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Liudmyla Nikohosian, and I’m the founder and owner of NAILS BY MILA, a beauty salon located in Seminole, Florida, as well as the creator of the MILA NOVA brand.
I specialize in European-style manicures and pedicures that combine precision, cleanliness, and comfort. What makes my salon unique is the atmosphere — calm, elegant, and created entirely by my own hands.
For me, beauty is not just about appearance — it’s about how people feel. My goal is to make every client leave with confidence, peace, and a little more happiness than when they arrived.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my team and looking for talented nail technicians who share my values and passion for quality work.
I’m also developing professional training materials, starting with a detailed pedicure guide, because many people ask me to teach my techniques.
In the near future, I plan to launch my own skincare line for hands and feet — a natural extension of what I do every day in the salon.
My goal is to grow the brand while helping other professionals achieve the same high standards of beauty and care.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
Life itself taught me the most about work. Every challenge, every mistake, and every difficult moment became my teacher.
When I started my journey, I made countless mistakes — from trusting the wrong people to trying to do everything alone. But those moments, as painful as they were, shaped my discipline, my standards, and my understanding of what true professionalism means.
I learned that success is never instant. It’s built step by step — with hard work, patience, and consistency.
Work has taught me that every detail matters, that respect and honesty always come back to you, and that even failures can turn into something beautiful when you keep going.
Today, I’m grateful for every mistake because without them, I wouldn’t have become the person and the professional I am now.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The first year after moving to the United States was one of the hardest times in my life. I was adapting to a new country, a new language, and trying to rebuild everything from scratch. There were moments when I felt lost, but I kept going, step by step, believing that all my effort would someday pay off.
Then came a breaking point — just a few months after I opened my salon. I didn’t have many clients yet, and then two hurricanes hit Florida back to back. People canceled their appointments, and suddenly I had no income to pay rent.
I was in complete shock and felt hopeless, but God gave me the strength to stay calm and not give up. It truly felt like a miracle — He carried me through that storm and reminded me that every challenge has a purpose.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I have a long-term dream and a project that I’m deeply committed to — creating an International Association of Nail Masters that connects manicure and pedicure professionals from around the world.
It will be a platform where artists can share their experience, knowledge, and passion for the craft. I want it to include professional events, educational programs, and a trend column where we highlight global innovations in nail care.
This project will take a lot of time, dedication, and teamwork, but I truly believe it can unite people through creativity, professionalism, and shared values.
It’s something I want to build step by step — not for fame, but to bring our industry together and give talented masters a stronger voice and community.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, my role, and everything I’ve built, what would remain is a person who wants to become better every day.
A person who believes in kindness, love, and honesty.
Someone who still dares to dream — and keeps following those dreams, no matter how long the road is.
Because in the end, it’s not about titles or success — it’s about who you are when everything else fades away.
