We recently had the chance to connect with Kim Bush and have shared our conversation below.
Kim, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Three things really:
Reading God’s word and singing. When I start reading, I find myself reading further than what I thought I would do. I might plan a chapter but then end up reading more. The bible is fascinating.
Singing is something I have also had a passion for and have been a soloist all my life. Listening to God’s music and preparing for being the featured soloist has always meant so much to me. How God has used me over the years has made me feel very humbled. I am not performing as much these last few years. I hate that word. “Performance” It was never about that for me. I believed God called me to use my voice for him and to share in song and to get his message out. I still sing on occasion now. Time still goes by so fast in worshiping with his music.
My profession now is photography, and I really can lose track of time with it. God’s creation is so beautiful and so colorful that it captivates me. With my camera in hand and away I go. So many beautiful creatures to enjoy and scenery to photograph. I love people too and count it a privilege to capture families and help create beautiful memories for them.
I am so thankful for the ability God has given me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I am Kim Bush and thank you for inviting back for another interview. I love doing photography. That includes teaching it as well and doing events of all types and family photo’s as well. There are so many different styles of photography and so many different types of cameras. It has been fun exploring them and my choices of equipment is professional grade.
It is my pleasure to offer digital albums and different mediums for all images.
My style varies to some degree given what I am capturing and the comfort level of my clients or subject matter.
I love blurred backgrounds and very focused images. I also love where everything is sharp. It is probably easier to say what I don’t enjoy photographing. For people, blown out sky’s (where you lose detail, too bright) or way to dark, where you have to struggle to see who it is. I really don’t care for those types of images.
It is important before hiring a photographer to know what one likes.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Wow! What a powerful and good question. Relationships can be very hard sometimes. As a Christian woman, I believe that it is important to turn to God in prayer and seek his guidance. I believe communication is key and being open and honest with each other is so very important. Forgiveness is always a key factor, because in our humaneness and selfishness it can get in the way. Really listening to one another is very important. To restore a relationship, you have to have both of these qualities. Having trust between friends, spouses, or any one in authority over us requires trust as well.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I must say that the list of questions to choose from have been mined blowing. Whoever came up with them kudos to you. A few have really taken me back. This one also. I guess you would say, I have always had a tender heart. Sometimes I have wished God wouldn’t have made me this way. It hurts. I know I am not alone in feeling like this. I have grown into a strong Christian woman, but it has taken a while. When I was disappointed or hurt as a youngster I would get on my swing and sing to the Lord and talk to him like he was right beside me. I somehow knew he was listening. I loved looking into the heavens. I knew Christian songs to sing about God’s love and for me that always helped.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, absolutely! I have always believed that being real is so very important. No matter what. My Christian Walk is real and means the most to me. Whether I am alone or with others. I want my life to reflect God’s love. It isn’t always easy, but He will help us if we just ask.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am doing what I was born to do for sure. Loving people and never meeting a stranger is the way God made me. My up bringing and circumstances helped, but my abilities are God given.
It has been my desire to grow and perfect my abilities accordingly.
