Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kahla Brubaker of Clearwater

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kahla Brubaker. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Kahla, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I think for me it’s writing. I love getting lost in the words and framing stories in a relatable way. Along piecing the words together, I run into my own realizations and epiphanies.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kahla Brubaker and I treat my life like a mini reality tv show. Haha, kidding – kind of. I share a lot of my life online through social media. I like to think of myself as a casual and curated oversharer. By balancing both approaches, I always hope to keep my content relatable. Typically you can find me posting about my life, my dogs, POVs, or my favorite spots around Tampa Bay (and beyond!).

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I believe my old boss was an important role model for me. She was always solutions oriented and results driven, but in a way that remained approachable. It taught me a lot about the corporate world and how I could apply those thought processes to my own clients and projects.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep going. I think one of the greatest quotes I’ve read had something to do with not realizing how close you might be to achieving greatness or your goals. You never know where the next step might take you. Don’t give up.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Honestly yes. The greatest compliments I’ve received are that I’m the same way online as I am in person. I think that’s so important in this space.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What light inside you have you been dimming?
I need to get back to writing. That creative outlet has always meant so much to me and I haven’t been nurturing that lately at all. My plan is to relaunch my blog soon so that I have a corner of the internet where I can express myself through words and lengthy paragraphs.
