Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jaimee Ponce of Tampa FL

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jaimee Ponce. Check out our conversation below.

Jaimee, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I felt most profoundly loved at the moment I realized the simple, freeing truth: I can’t do everything, be everything, or balance everything on my own.

There is a constant, exhausting pressure to be the perfect parent, the successful professional, the engaged volunteer, and somehow remain a rock of strength all at once (that is not happening!). I try to balance my children, my work, charity, and even the intense, sometimes overwhelming churn of my own feelings—the people-pleasing, the unknown, the whole range of human emotions. I fail every day in some areas, and the weight of that impossibility can be crushing.

The moment of deepest love comes when I can stop striving and sit in the arms of Jesus, knowing that I don’t have to have all of the answers. It is in that space of surrender that the most immense love washes over me.

To be honest, I don’t feel like I deserve any of it. The grace, the love, the success in my business—it all feels unearned. That’s why I love to answer this question by stating that I am so loved, even though I don’t deserve it.

But the most important part of that realization is that I am actively learning to accept it. The narrative is not about my struggle for perfection; it is about a love that is given freely, regardless of my performance. It’s not my story; this is God’s story, and it is one that is meant for everyone. Accepting that love is accepting a role in that larger, more beautiful narrative.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone! I’m Jaimee Lynn, and I run Jaimee Lynn Photography.

My Story and My Craft
My work is the culmination of over 25 years of practice, training, and a whole lot of heart and soul poured into my clients’ visions and my community. While the world is full of talented photographers—and it truly is!—I believe that what sets me apart is the unique perspective I bring to every single project.

No two families, no two brides and grooms, and no two business events are ever the same, and I absolutely adore the challenge of capturing and portraying the specialness of each one. My focus is on delivering excellence in my craft for your families, branding, and events.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The Part to Be Released
The part of me that has officially served its purpose and is now getting the boot is the need to please everyone.

For years, that part worked overtime, likely believing that keeping everyone happy was the path to success and peace. It brought me to where I am, but it is now an expired contract.

It’s time for the great shedding—that glorious moment, often in your 40s, when you realize you get to be your actual self. It means dropping the exhausting, inauthentic effort and realizing: It’s cool that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea.

This shift isn’t about being prickly; it’s about being authentic. By releasing the need for universal approval, I’m not pushing people away—I’m just making room for the fantastic ones who are truly meant to be there. I’m trading a wide, shallow pool of acquaintances for a deeper, more meaningful connection the ones meant for me!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The kind of suffering that involves knees on the ground in prayer, fighting through generational and current battles, and navigating the relentless challenges of work and life has taught me lessons that success, in its comfortable ease, simply never could.

Suffering taught me two essential, inverted truths:

To hold on tightly to the things that are real—things like faith, character, love, and core values.

To hold on loosely to success and the outcome—recognizing that achievement is fleeting and the results are not what define me.

It showed me that the struggle is the strength. It is not an obstacle to be avoided, but the very crucible in which one finds out what they are truly made of. Success often provides a soft landing; suffering provides an unvarnished mirror, revealing your resilience, depth, and unwavering core.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?

I would hope my closest friends would say what truly matters to me is:

Jesus: The foundation that keeps me sane and centered.

My kids and my family: My favorite humans and my biggest why.

My Business (Jaimee Lynn Photography): My creative outlet and the way I share my gifts.

Them (My Amazing Friends!): The essential support system and the best part of the party.

If they say anything else, well, I guess I’ll have to up my game!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What light inside you have you been dimming?
Joy! I have been holding back living fully and joyfully trying to be perfect, feeling guilty for joy itself. It is my mission to understand joy is a gift God gives us in Him and I don’t have to wait. I can live everyday fully now
