Inspiring Conversations with Tanna Cochrane of Skinny Dip Swimwear

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanna Cochrane.

Hi Tanna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born into a family of entrepreneurs, I grew up dreaming of having a business of my own. At 19 years old, I decided on swimwear being the industry I wanted to pursue. As a sophomore in college, I began designing my first collection and contacting manufacturers that could bring these designs to life. Once I was able to find someone who shared the same values as I do, I put my first 6 designs into production. After a year of perfecting my product, I launched my brand on March 3rd, 2023. Since then, I have launched a second collection, attended Miami Swim Week and taken part in many local pop-ups and events.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a new brand in a fairly new country (for me) came with many obstacles yet many opportunities. A few of which include, breaking into a new market, creating an online presence, finding a manufacturer that shares the same values as I do for my brand, the logistics and distribution aspect for an online brand as well as building up a relationship with new customers.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Skinny Dip was born from a desire to blend style, substance, and purpose. Offering more than just something to wear by the water. We specialize in creating sustainable swimwear that flatters, empowers, and lasts- pieces that feel as good as they look.

Skinny Dip is known for its minimal lines, sculpting silhouettes and inclusive sizing, I pride myself on crafting collections that celebrate every body type.

At Skinny Dip, we don’t just design swimwear- we design confidence. Our collections are created with premium, sustainably sourced materials, and we maintain ethical production practices from start to finish. We’re not interested in fast fashion or fleeting trends; we believe in timeless, versatile designs that remain relevant season after season.

I am most proud of building a brand that reflects our values- inclusivity, quality, sustainability, and authenticity. I am also incredibly proud to have attended Miami Swim Week 2025.

Skinny Dip offers a wide range of sizes and styles to suit different shapes and personal tastes, and we’re continually innovating to make each collection even better than the last.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The importance of consistency, reliability and loyalty.
