James, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Blooms in Grace was born from a dream that God placed in our hearts—a desire to share the beauty of His creation and honor Him through our work. From the beginning, my wife and I have shared a deep love for nature and an even greater love for God. We believe that every flower, plant, and butterfly is a reflection of His grace, creativity, and love.
Our journey began with the vision of designing gardens that inspire peace and joy, creating spaces where people can feel closer to nature and, in many ways, to the Creator Himself. As a husband-and-wife team, our faith guides everything we do: my wife brings creativity and thoughtful attention to every design, while I focus on planning and execution, working together to serve others through each project.
Today, Blooms in Grace specializes in designing, installing, and maintaining gardens that celebrate life—from butterfly gardens to vibrant flower beds and lush landscapes—while honoring each client’s unique vision. More than a business, it is our way of sharing God’s grace, and our prayer is that every space we create brings beauty, inspiration, and a reminder of His love.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy road, but we understand that every business requires time, effort, dedication, and patience. Finding the right team, securing enough clients, and getting our name out to potential customers have been some of our biggest challenges. On top of that, working under extreme summer heat, dealing with plants that sometimes die without an obvious reason and must be replaced, and facing the unexpected obstacles that always seem to appear at the worst moments have all tested us along the way.
But through it all, we’ve learned to be resilient. We continue to trust that God is guiding us and strengthening our business, and that every challenge is an opportunity to grow and serve our clients even better.
We’ve been impressed with Blooms in Grace , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Blooms in Grace, we design, install, and maintain gardens that highlight the beauty of nature and reflect the peace, joy, and inspiration that outdoor spaces can bring. Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes us happiest is seeing the joy that our gardens bring to others. There’s something incredibly meaningful about watching a client step into their finished space for the first time—the smile, the peace, the sense of connection with nature. Knowing that something we created can brighten someone’s day or give a family a place to relax, reflect, or simply enjoy God’s creation is deeply fulfilling.
We also find happiness in working together as a husband-and-wife team. Sharing this calling, combining our strengths, and seeing how our faith guides every step of the process is truly special to us. Even on the hardest days, we’re reminded that we’re building something with purpose.
And finally, nature itself brings us joy. The colors, the growth, the butterflies, the small details—each one reminds us of God’s creativity and grace. Being able to work surrounded by that beauty every day is a blessing, and it’s a big part of why we love what we do.
