Today we’d like to introduce you to Guyna Dacius.
Hi Guyna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey on this path began with wanting to understand people on a deeper level. Growing up, I watched my parents work extremely hard and continue moving through challenges without slowing down. That experience stayed with me. Later, in graduate school, I noticed a similar pattern in many of the people around me—high achievers who were doing well academically or professionally but privately carried a large amount of stress or unaddressed trauma.
What stood out to me was how easily these internal experiences were overlooked or dismissed as “normal” for driven individuals. Many didn’t recognize that their constant pressure or emotional exhaustion came from earlier experiences that were never acknowledged or processed. That realization shaped the direction of my career.
I created Brighter Way Counseling & Wellness to offer a space where high achievers could understand those patterns, acknowledge the impact of trauma and long-term stress, and receive support in working through them. My goal is to help people function from a place of emotional clarity and stability rather than operating in survival mode.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve been very fortunate to have great mentors supporting me throughout my journey, but the challenges I faced were mostly internal. Starting my own practice brought up doubts about timing, readiness, and whether I could build something meaningful on my own.
Working through those thoughts required me to slow down, trust my background, and accept that growth rarely happens under perfect circumstances. It pushed me to practice the same skills I encourage in my clients—self-awareness, patience, and giving myself permission to learn as I go.
Moving through that process helped me become more grounded in my work. It also allows me to relate more deeply to the clients I work with, many of whom carry similar pressures and expectations. Navigating my own internal hurdles has made me more present, understanding, and authentic in the work I do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Brighter Way Counseling & Wellness is a virtual private practice serving clients across Florida. I specialize in trauma-informed care for high achievers—individuals who often appear to be functioning well on the outside but privately struggle with stress, unresolved trauma, anxiety, or long-standing emotional patterns.
Many of my clients are the dependable ones in their families, workplaces, or communities. They’re responsible and capable, but they rarely have a place where they can pause and focus on their own emotional needs. My approach blends trauma-informed practices, nervous system awareness, and evidence-based interventions to help clients understand why certain patterns show up and how to work through them in a healthy way.
What I appreciate most about Brighter Way is the environment we’ve created. It’s a space where people don’t need to present as “put together.” They can be honest about what they’re carrying and receive support without judgment. The goal isn’t to take away ambition—it’s to help individuals pursue their goals with more balance, clarity, and emotional stability.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that it’s okay not to be okay. High achievers often feel pressure to stay composed and in control, even when they’re struggling internally. That mindset can make it difficult to acknowledge when support is needed.
Over time, I’ve learned that acceptance and self-compassion are essential for real change. Progress doesn’t come from having everything figured out—it comes from being honest about where you are and allowing space for your emotions.
This perspective guides the work I do. Healing isn’t about becoming a different person; it’s about understanding yourself more fully, recognizing what has shaped you, and creating healthier ways forward. That’s the foundation I hope clients take with them long after our work together.
