Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Paschal.
Hi Dominique, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Dominique Paschal and I am the Co-Founder, Owner, CEO, and Family Nurse Practitioner for Purposely Evolving Medical Clinic. I was born in Chicago, Illinois under a roof where my mother Cynthia raised me and my five siblings. After graduating with Honors from Manley High School I moved to Iowa City, IA where I obtained my Bachelor Of Arts In Psychology with a minor In Deaf Studies from The University Of Iowa In 2008. After graduation, I moved to Florida with my fiance’ and now Husband and Co-founder Marcus.
After moving to Florida I struggled to find my purpose so I decided to change paths and that’s when it all clicked and I set out to become a Registered Nurse.
I started my career In the healthcare field in 2008 as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I went on to Graduate with my LPN Diploma In 2010 from Galen College of Nursing but I felt I was still settling and knew I had more to accomplish before fulfilling my destiny! I continued my education while being newly married, and five months pregnant I graduated with my Associate’s Degree In Nursing as The Valedictorian at Galen College Of Nursing in 2010! After taking a break from education and enjoying life as a wife and mother of 3 amazing children Mikayla, Myles, and Maison in 2018 I graduated with Honors and completed my Master’s Degree in Nursing from The University of Tampa becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.
After becoming Board Certified by the American Associates of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) I started my career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I worked for close to 4 years as a Nurse practitioner for some of the biggest hospitals and Medical groups in the State of Florida. Still, I felt as though I wasn’t making an impact and my time was mostly filled with paperwork, meetings, and trying to convince the corporate world I was a fantastic Nurse Practitioner. This was heartbreaking for me and I decided to step out on faith and start my own Medical Practice! This was the best decision I could have ever made for my career!
I’m not only working as a Nurse Practitioner impacting lives, but also living out my purpose.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have been many obstacles and challenges when it comes to being a Nurse Practitioner and Business Owner especially when you do not have a mentor or guidance. I have always been the only African American provider in the clinics I have worked or the only black nurse in the hospitals on certain floors which caused difficulties, mental exhaustion, and at times frustrations but I did not allow it to deter me from my Goals and dreams. No matter how exhausting and draining the racism and cultural insensitivities were it actually pushed me to go harder so I could create a more comfortable work environment for me and my employees.
I currently have different struggles such as managing my own practice, business finances, medical supplies, medication inventory, and letting patients or potential patients know I am here to help. This is very important to not have them feel rushed during appointments and it allows me the ability to hear their concerns and help with solving their root medical problem.
My work-life balance has improved but it is still a struggle to manage to be a mother of three very athletic children with multiple extracurricular activities, wife of a High school Head football coach, and business owner.

Direct Primary care is an alternative payment model to improve access to health care with a simple flat and affordable monthly membership fee. Our Direct primary care office provides affordable, attentive, and personalized care, without feeling rushed.
At Purposely Evolving we understand that Overall well-being, sexual wellness, and weight loss journey is the key to evolving one’s life! We provide primary care services such as chronic disease management which can include Hypertension, Diabetes, Depression, and Anxiety to name a few. We also provide well-women exams, sports physicals, and annual exams so one can have all-around comprehensive care. We also offer a medically safe supervised weight loss program and a Hormone Replacement Therapy program.
We do not accept insurance at this time but there are no hidden fees, third-party co-pay, or other surprise expenses. We offer a flat, affordable, convenient membership fee of $75 a month. We accept cash, debit, all forms of credit cards, FSA, HSA, payment plans, and Care credit!
