Hi Dany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Dany Ortega. My passion for entrepreneurship and finances was born since I was a little kid in Cuba, selling stickers and candy at elementary school. I moved to United States with 21 years old in 2018, due to the precarious political and economical situation in my country. Since then, I studied Economics and Finances, and started working as a bookkeeper and controller on several industries, but mostly in construction. I noticed that the financial systems and processes I was creating and developing at my last workplace at the time, I was able to replicate and make it work for several businesses instead of just one, and that’s how Concrete Bookkeeping & Consulting was born. Our mission is to empower construction business owners around their finances. Our main values and principles to do so are ethics, transparency, professionalism, and care for our teammates and clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The main challenge in my line of work is getting customers to trust and believe in what we can do for them. It is totally understandable. They would be entrusting their finances to someone they barely know. However, we actively work on gaining and maintaining that trust, and creating systems that limit access exclusively to the data needed to fulfill our responsibilities.

Concrete Bookkeeping was born to bring together people who feel passionate about helping small and medium-sized business owners in the construction industry. Our mission is to empower them around their finances. To do so, we need to properly organize the business’s numbers for tax purposes. But we go one step further; we need to understand the needs of the business owner/s and executives and be able to capture the data to help them make sound decisions. We specialize exclusively in the construction industry, and that gives us an edge since we understand the pain points and common issues in the industry and how to solve them.

I am a voracious reader, and also consume content on YouTube and podcasts. The book that changed my life and shaped my professional mindset was Principles, by Ray Dalio. The main influencers whose content I consumed are Jason Staats and Alex Hormozi.
