Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Kukral. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Cory & Sarah Kukral have had a love of food service for many years and also owned another café in Brooksville, FL a few years back. In 2016 the Kukral’ s moved to Sarasota to finalize the adoption of their son LJ and a year later their daughter Bryanna AKA (Baby Brie).
After a few years of looking for the right spot a beautiful garden café spot in Downtown Sarasota came available and Cory & Sarah made an offer. July 2022 Baby Bries Café & Coffee House opened to the public.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been both smooth and bumpy… With years of food service experience, the Kukral’ s knew how to open and manage a café but with raising food costs and staffing shortages the road has been anything but smooth in the 1st year.
Being tucked away in a beautiful garden café in Towles Court Artist Community makes for a beautiful setting but also a challenge for patrons to park. Luckily the food and hospitality of the owners have guests willing to park and walk if needed.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Baby Brie’s is a family-owned and operated business that feels customer service is key to its success. Great food served with a smile in a beautiful setting is what makes Baby Brie’s a winning combination. Baby Brie’s is well known for service with a smile and great food and atmosphere. Our menu specialties are fresh and made-to-order breakfast and lunch items. We are set apart from other cafes by being a place that truly treats customers as guests and makes them feel welcome.
Our brand is Baby Brie herself… She along with her brother LJ are here at the Café most weekends helping to serve our guests and build their future. Baby Brie can be often found in a corner booth playing with her toys and waiting to greet the guests.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The Food Service industry over the next 5-10 years will see many challenges and huge successes for those who can make it through those challenges. The food service industry is not a get-quick business it’s more of a marathon of ups and downs and changes to stay relevant.
Food costs and staffing issues will be a major challenge for all restaurants over the next few years but the good ones that know how to manage food costs and give the customer a great experience will stand the test of time.
