Inspiring Conversations with Christian Ramirez of OnPoint Web Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Ramirez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been curious about how things work. As a kid, that curiosity showed up in the form of Legos, then video games — anything that let me build and solve problems. When MySpace came along, I started tinkering with HTML and CSS. That was my first real taste of web development, even though I didn’t know it had a name at the time.

I became a barber at 16 and spent the next 15 years perfecting my craft. Cutting hair taught me a lot about precision, creativity, and listening to what people really want — but eventually, I burned out from solving hair problems and wanted to solve something different.

Around a year before COVID, I started developing GTA 5 servers and taught myself backend programming using Lua. I was hooked again. Fixing bugs and building systems for servers with hundreds of players reminded me how much I loved creating and troubleshooting. I soon realized most programming languages share the same logic — only the syntax changes — so I decided to take it further. I earned my associate degree in web development and expanded my skills from backend to frontend design.

What matters most to me now is creating exactly what clients envision for their businesses. It’s rewarding to know I’m helping people build something that supports their families and communities.

In 2020, I founded OnPoint Web Studio. It started as a one-person project helping small local businesses get online. For the first three years, I handled everything — design, development, and client relationships — and built a reputation for delivering quality work. Today, OnPoint has grown into a studio that serves a wide range of clients and industries, providing custom digital solutions for businesses of all sizes.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes it worth it. Transitioning from being a barber for 15 years to working in tech was a huge shift — I had to start from zero again. I went from having a full client base and steady income to spending long nights learning to code, breaking things, fixing them, and breaking them again.

There were moments I doubted myself, especially balancing school, client work, and trying to build a new career from scratch. I also had to learn how to run a business on the digital side — not just the creative part, but contracts, pricing, taxes, the whole thing.

But every challenge pushed me to level up. The same persistence that kept me booked as a barber helped me stay consistent as a developer. Now, when something feels hard, I take it as a sign I’m learning something new.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
OnPoint Web Studio is my web design and development company, built around helping businesses show up strong online. We create custom websites that are clean, fast, and easy to use — the kind of sites that actually help clients grow.

What really sets us apart is how personal we are with every project. Nothing’s copy-pasted or mass-produced. I listen to what each client wants and build it from the ground up. And honestly, we keep our prices lower than most studios because I know what it’s like to start small and still want something professional.

I’m proud that OnPoint has a reputation for being reliable, affordable, and straight-up honest. Whether someone’s just getting their first business off the ground or trying to level up their brand, we make sure they get exactly what they need — no upselling, no shortcuts, just solid work that helps them succeed.

At the end of the day, it’s about giving people the tools to grow their business and support their families. That’s what keeps me doing this every day.
